U.S. carriers begin taking pre-orders for Samsung's new flagship phone — and HTC's M9 starts shipping from today if you buy online.

The HTC One M9

Two of the year's biggest Android flagships go up for sale today in the U.S., starting with the new HTC standard-bearer for 2015. The HTC One M9 is available to buy online from AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, as well as unlocked directly from HTC.

And all four are shipping orders from today, so if you order online you'll have your M9 before the April 10 retail launch date. Verizon customers have a little longer to wait to place pre-orders — that carrier will start taking orders on April 1.

If you're buying an unlocked model direct from HTC a 32GB M9 — the only version available at present — will set you back $649. For a breakdown of on-contract carrier pricing, check out our guide on where to buy the HTC One M9.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge

Meanwhile, both the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are available to pre-order from four major U.S. carriers.

AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and U.S. Cellular are taking pre-orders for both the vanilla S6 and the "edge" variant today, with orders set to ship in time for the April 10 global launch date. Verizon's GS6 pre-orders begin April 1, while Boost Mobile is still taking pre-registrations.
