RvU custom ROM

Not quite satisfied with the stock firmware on your new HTC Evo?  Or maybe you just have the itch to tinker that comes naturally when some folks get their paws on an Android phone.  Android Central member and all around goof off THE Keith Newman and his cohorts have you covered.

The ROM is a mostly stock version of the latest EVO stock system  (with the OTA fixes in place), but has some very nice custom touches:

  • Fully rooted
  • Busybox installed and working
  • Working 4G :)
  • Non essential apps have been moved out of the locked /system partition for easy removal if you don't want them installed
  • Some great 3rd party apps are included (courtesy of their respective developers, check the forum thread for details)

If rooting, hacking, and forcing the big black slab that is the Evo to submit to your will is your thing, hit the forums and check out the thread.

The ROM looks and feels like stock, but there's a few screen caps to whet your ROM appetite after the break.

Blah, still so used to themes/patches on my Pre and stuff that all this ROM business is new to me.

Will try to figure it all out.
I'm willing to try ADW Launcher.

Only reasoN to Root my baby would be for the official release of Froyo NOT THE HALF BAKED BS FLOATING round, after XDA males it play nice with EVO

hmmm... i am still not seeing a reason to fully root just yet. the unrevoked app lets me run all the apps that require root (like wifi tether) and unless this either increases my speed or make the wifi work better (which i believe ONLY a new radio will make wifi better, but dont quote me) i just dont personally see the need.

I was rooted and flashed a new rom every few days on my MT3G... but thats cause there were a LOT of devs putting out amazing work.. I just hope the EVO gets that kind of love from the community!

Thats a personal preference, can't be mad at cha. But there are others who want to root to remove those apps they dont want, increase some memory space, use custom recovery and flash ROMs and the newest radios to get better signal and bettey battery life. There are atleast 5 custom ROMs out there now, and a couple (Dev) roms so its only gonna get better as far as variety. I mean its barely been a week.

If you don't like Sense, from the home screen, hit menu -> settings -> applications -> manage applications -> scroll down to "htc sense" -> click "clear defaults" -> click "force stop" -> click ok when it asks if you're sure -> press the home button -> check the "use by default" box -> and click launcher. done.

i want this rom but first i need an evo haha can ne one tell me were i can get a cheap one i am on the employee advantage plan so i cant get one till august through sprint :(
