Android iPad KIRF

We've all seen the slew of Android tablets that look suspiciously like that other popular tablet out there (and we're not talking about the Samsung Galaxy Tab), and Android Central reader Ted417 managed to get his hands on one in a Brownsville, Texas, mall, where it was going for $250. We're not sure whether this 7-inch resistive touchscreen freak of nature is extremely cool, or extremely sad, but we'll let Ted tell the story after the break, along with a huge gallery of pics. Thanks, Ted!

So what we've got here is a Chinese Android MID. It has four buttons -- the home button on the front (like the iPad's), menu and the volume rocker, and a power button.

It has a pair of speakers, one microphone, one microSD card slot, and one USB port.

The tablet has 1GB of internal storage. Not sure about RAM or ROM. It's built on Android 1.6. the kernel version is 2.6.29-00236-g4f8dbbb-dirty, and the Build number is 1.7.2. It has no market, but it has an "Apps Store."

I may have purchased one of these. I was on a daily deal site that 99% of the time has these for sale. But needless to say i purchased one of their bag of crap type things (it wasnt woot) for $6... I will donate to AndroidCentral if I do receive it and they want it.

Lol... you can donate to me if you want :)... I really liked the tablet when I was messing with it... I reeeaaally liked it :D... I can maybe even root it and then flash a newer rom or something... haha...

Honestly... from the build quality I wouldn't purchase one of these. Especially for $150. Wait for November and get the Samsung one.

Watch out, there are a lot of versions and the best one is the Apad Irobot www.hiapad.com Everything else is pretty much crap for now.
If you buy one you want one with the Rockchip RK2808, the ones with Via chips are crap.

Check this place out for info www.slatedroid.com

If that IS the Apad MID (or iRobot), it is 128MB RAM + 600Mhz processor... with a *resistive* touchscreen. Sorry, major lame. At least you can get it for $160 which is pretty cheap.
