LG G2 QuickWindow Case

Never mind that we've got a little more than a week to go before the LG G2 is unveiled in New York City — the Korea manufacturer is letting loose let another teaser.

What you see here is what appears to be a flip case with a transparent window — yes, just like what Samsung's got on a couple of its models — that'll add a bit of functionality to the G2. In fact, it's got a good half-dozen features packed in there. Through the window you'll be able to see a clock, the current weather, an alarm clock, music player, incoming call details and text messages.

And, as you see, it'll be available seven colors.

LG is set to launch the G2 on Aug. 7 — if it can wait that long.

Exactly! They just change it up a Lil' bit. But at least we could be closer to a rumored new LG Nexus 5 device based off the G2's design. :D

LG G2 IS BETTER !!!!!!!!!!!

The Samsung version showed a slot with the time and alerts, but was fairly downplayed.

LG's QuickWindow however, can display different modes, including a clock, weather report, alarm, music player, incoming phone details and text messages. It isn't on permanently, so doesn't waste battery, but can be activated with a swipe of a finger on the open window.

LG has done ALMOST similar of this Cover for its Spectrum /Nitro HD before S4.

LG G2 IS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN SAMSUNG S4.

Samsung makes a phone. 3 months later LG makes the same phone with similar design, accessories, software design/features. Rinse and repeat.

LG designed and sold a similar case for the Spectrum 2 long before Samsung introduced the case for the GS4.

LG is way better than Samsung in terms of DESIGN INNOVATION...

The innovation word, straight out of the Apple playbook. I can give credit where it is due. The G2 is looking good, but this thing here is improvement, not innovation.

Is it truly innovative? No. Innovation has become such a common word in the tech sector that I feel it now defines evolution - not necessarily something revolutionary. This is purely subjective though.

maybe I am picking nits, but it is one of the reasons that Apple gets the crap that it does, throwing around innovative when it is improvement. Maybe your right, maybe throwing the word around truly had diluted the word to the point of meaninglessness but not where I am sitting.

I guess it is just me, I still call a spade a shovel.

How's having a peer reviewed/certified greatest screen tech on the planet for innovation? LG is doing it. Right.

Except the power and volume button on the back of the phone which are unusable when the phone lays on its back or sits on a car mount.

It will have voice controls so when it's in the dock you won't need to press on the back.

i've been thinking though... what about with armbands for running? i didn't use one with my e4gt (just held it), but i'd like to get one with my next phone. i guess they could use an x-shaped elastic design so you could tuck your fingers behind it. if they ship with headphones with volume control and say "just use that" it's kind of a cop-out. what do you think?

Wish all these dang phones weren't so pricey. I'm holding out for the Moto X, then we'll see what sort of off-contract options VZW gives me.

Moto X (or at least those Droids shown the other day) allow data to be displayed in a small portion of the display, no fancy case required. Saves battery and is more intimate.

Pick your poison. The only difference you'll see in OS is going to apple or blackberry.
It's just a matter of which manufacturer has the best and most refined features without overloading the end user.

Yep that is innovation copy someone else's work and make it better. They all do it but LG is really getting bad about it their phones seem to be a LG version of Samsung products

He is talking about coping Samsung, what does that have to do with the power and volume controls?

The functionality looks great. Hopefully Samsung takes some notes on how LG improved the design.

I don't get why so many people are upset. I really can't wait to see how this phone turns out! I will be holding out for this phone over the HTC One.

LG has really been trolling Samsung lately. I wonder why sites like this haven't been calling them out.

How will this work without negatively affecting battery life without an amoled screen?

I thought that was the whole point of the Samsung one was that you see a window of important updates but the rest of the screen is effectively off.

Does Samsung version have any of these features? I think they just show some notifications and clock.

How much extra power does this use?
Can't be that good to keep the backlight on all the time...

It does look like they copied but I believe in choices and making something better. I have no problem with this as long as phones keep getting better.

Lg copies samsung so much. I think that's why they will never be a top brand!

Do your research... Samsung copies from LG as well as others. LG has had open face cases for devices dating back to CES 2012.

I don't think Samsung is even really like apple. On the other hand I think the g2 needs to find more originality because this is more of a lame version of the s4 people won't give up s4

How the heck do you see the g2 like the SGS4? The best 5.2, or any size, screen tech in existance, the 800, stereo speakers, NO FUCKING BUTTONS/Software keys...for starters. This stomps the GS4 and will match the GS5.

The more I see this phone the more I like it, and I don't even see myself using a flip cover as they don't protect against drops which I think is the only reason to use any kind of cover. I was ready to buy a S4 a couple weeks after it came out, but hearing same old thing about the radios so I'm holding off to see what else is coming out. This phone looks promising.

LG loves copying from Samsung.. oh well. If only they were smart enough to realize that most of us dislike the samsung bloat, instead of copying it.

The UI on this phone looks SO much like Touchwiz, as does the handset look like the S4.

LG is to Samsung what Samsung was to apple.

It's sad, but true.

How'd that workout for Sammy, genius? There's A LOT more "evidence" of Sammy copying Apple. That huge, glaring home button makes iOS users right at home. That's the biggest gripe Apple has on Sammy.

Oh I don't deny it, Samsung made it's fortune by making their handsets look/feel like the iPhone but what I'm saying here is.. LG have basically created the LG S4, the interface looks similar as does the shape/look of the phone. If they want to stand out and show how good we all know they are.. they need to come up with something that's different and they also need to UPDATE THEIR PHONES AND STOP DROPPING SUPPORT the second a new handset is released.

Glad to see they added additional features to the window, now will other companies like Spigen come along with a nice looking case, say the Slim Armor LG-View case. I mean I would get this, use it for a few months then get a GN3.
