LG G2

G2 scheduled for Verizon launch on Sept. 12, AT&T on Sept. 13

Apparently keen to get its new flagship phone on American store shelves before the next iPhone hits, LG plans to launch the G2 on the two largest U.S. carriers by the middle of next month, Android Central can reveal. Sources familiar with LG's plans tell us that Verizon is currently scheduled to launch the G2 on Sept. 12, while AT&T will ship the next day, Sept. 13. For the latter, pre-sales will open on Sept. 3, and pre-order customers will get a free folio case.

The G2 will also be headed to Sprint and T-Mobile, however we weren't able to track down any firm release dates for these carriers.

In addition to most likely launching ahead of Apple's new iPhone (or iPhones, as the case may be), a mid-September launch could see the G2 available in the U.S. before rival devices from HTC and Samsung, including the One Max and Galaxy Note 3. It's also a relatively quick turnaround for LG, which has previously taken its time when it comes to bringing phones to the U.S. market.

Elsewhere, the G2 is pegged to arrive in the UK around the end of September, having already gone on sale in South Korea.

So will you be picking up an LG G2 in the U.S. next month? Shout out in the comments!

I don't really think I made myself clear. I am friggin pumped! I really figured we'd see this on Verizon in mid October.

Posted via Android Central App using this POS borrowed Thunderbolt while waiting for the G2 because I walked into the ocean with my GNex in my pocket.

This phone has me leaning towards it. Lg t.v blu-ray maybe cell phone too.

I may have to give up my OG Pro for the G2,gotta have a hands-on!:-)

Well it is between this and the note 3 for me. Leaning towards this one. I just love the original optimus g.

So many awesome phones coming out, I don't Know if I can't wait for another year and 5 months. My fiance thinks I'm crazy, I've been trying to give her my s3 and use her upgrade to get either the g2, htc one or moto X. Decisions decisions, might just have to save money and buy one of them off contract.

Oh Yeah!!! If I get this I will be leaving Sprint's garbage network and jumping on AT&T who has my area blanketed in 4G LTE. I was originally going to get the Optimus G Pro, then heard about this beauty. Now I'm anxious to see what this Note 3 is going to be like (full 1080 HD I'm sure!) I don't want to jump the gun and regret my decision. Too many incredible devices!!!

Can't wait to give this phone a test drive. I played around with a Droid MAXX yesterday and plan on going to the Verizon store to test drive an HTC One on Friday. One of those three phones will be my next phone.

I'm planning to get it when it comes to T-Mobile, but will be watching for your hands on reviews from the other carriers first to make sure it's all it's cracked up to be.

I'm gonna wait on reviews first. Not sure if I want to wait for the Nexus 5. Nothing compares to pure Google.

It all depends on what comes out with the Nexus 5 for me. If it ends up disappointing, then it's the G2 or One for me.

I'm having a hard enough time deciding between one of the new Droid line of phones, the Moto X or the HTC One that I've been waiting 6 months for on VZW. I may just forget about those and go with this G2.

I was in the same boat. This wasn't even on my radar until the 7th when they announced it. Then I was blown away by the specs.
Big screen in a small footprint.
High resolution screen.
Blazing processor.
Big battery.
Sleek design.
High res camera.
Plenty or RAM.
I LOVE IT!

my verizon galaxy nexus upgrade period is finally here, and im holding out to see some reviews (and bootloader unlocking status) of the G2. part of me wants to bail on verizon and go to AT&T with nexus5..but verizon's service is so much better where i live (4g LTE vs spotty 3g), so AT&T would need to roll out LTE first.

I think I'll replace my VZW GNex with the G2, and in off chance that VZW gets a Nexus device, I'll sell the G2 and buy the Nexus.

And then what, you'll remove the logos from all your shoes and shirts? Remove the badging from your car? Put black tape over all the manufacture names on your computers? Scratch off the etching from all the TV's in your house?

Advertising is everywhere at your expense, just the way it is...

Theres like 1 logo on my dress shoes(usually at the bottom) and dress shirt. I did remove the badges from my car. I dont think there is a logo on my Corsair PC case. There is only 1 logo on the front of my TV.

Nope its NOT the way it is, on my verizon S4 there is no crappy verizon logo next to the ear piece!!

Its called a case...lol and presto the logo is gone...replaced with droids,Mickey Mouse or even a tardis...

As I sit with my DNA and a wireless charging infrastructure - the HTC One is out. LG G2 or Droid Maxx both have wireless charging and leaning towards the G2 at launch...

I'm sure that you all know this but the DNA and the LG G2 are about the same size with the G2 packing the extra .2 inch of a screen. This is a natural upgrade from the DNA to leverage the LG WCP-700 wireless charging stations that I already have for the DNA. I think that I am going to like the volume button placement on back. The Maxx looks promising but based on the screen and CPU is not the G2 the phone to own on the heels of the DNA?

yeah I've got my dna as well and I love the wireless charging.. was disappointed that the s4 didn't come with it stock, so i use my charging pad for my new nexus 7...but I'm excited to use the g2 with wireless charging!

I hope I can get a Verizon generic(No logo) version for the GSM model...Have dual pad Qui just hankering for a second phone.

There's going to be alot of choices to be made. We have the G2, Note 3, One Max, and the next Nexus. For me its going to be between the Note 3 or the Nexus. This will be one of the best fall lineups in a long time.

I agree. This Gnex has done its time for me. I'm ready for a new device. So many to choose from!

For me this one falls into the same trap as the SGS4 and the One. It really sin't enough of an upgrade to get excited about or to consider.

That leaves:

Note3
Honami
One Max

Either way, the beginning of September will be interesting

Interesting. This is a lot sooner than I thought. I am on AT&T currently and was seriously considering the unlocked that's available now for pre-order. I would be giving up LTE but my HSPA+ speeds where I live are good enough. No carrier bloat is a big factor too! Decisions. Decisions...

I wonder if bootloader will be able to unlock???You know Verizon frowns upon that. Hoping so.

How is the UI for LG compared to HTC Sense? I'd really like to wait for the One Max but there seems to be a lot of love for this phone.

Don't get sucked into the others hype. Not saying the G2 isnt a good phone, but I would hold on until the beginning of September.

To answer your question, LGs UI is a lot like stock from what I understand but with all the enhancements you would expect from a skin. It doesn't seem too bad but nothing is concrete until you have it/use it.

I'm just surprised that Verizon isn't going to be the last one to get this phone.

this uses a nano sim right? I think I'll have to buy a sim cutter. last time I switched sim cards from mini to micro with my rezound to the nexus, I was without a phone for hours because the new sim took forever to register in the system... so this time I'll just cut it. lol

Hope it will be the same for Germany. Can't wait. Funny thing is, that t-mobile USA already announced it. Telekom Germany doesn't say a word about it B-)

Will someone please complain about how much they hate Verizon and how much Verizon sucks so that this article wasn't posted in vain? Jesus, what's wrong with you people?

To me this phone looks like the Galaxy line, and IMO, that means ugly.

Posted via Android Central App

Damn...... might have to check this phone out. Was going to get the note3 because I was so "happy happy happy" with my sgs3. But the more the merrier! I love choices.

Posted via Android Central App

Verizon getting ANY phone first? Did you feel that? I think hell just froze over :P I'm interested in this phone, still not a fan of the back plate though D:

I hope this hyped lg phone doesn't get left behind like the g2x.... That gave me hell.

The lg nexus 4 did justice though.

PLEASE DONT LET ME DOWN

Too many choices! I love the specs ! I really don't like Sammys plastic body so this LG would be nice. It's that Damn nexus 5 that I need to hear about!

Finally Verizon is getting some decent phones. I will definitely consider the G2 if it comes with 32GB. Also buying off contract to preserve my unlimited plan.

How funny the pre-orders go up on 9-3, the day before the Galaxy Note 3 announcement, like that will have any impact on getting users on the fence. They will wait a day or two.

I'm praying now that the Nexus 5 is based on the G2...Like others I can't do anything till we here about the N5. I thought it was interesting that only Engadget had glowing things to say about the G2. The Verge blasted it...and Phil and the guys didn't think much it.... or the volume buttons...An idea that I think is brilliant. Its as if Engadget was the only one who got to handle it, and the others were pissed...I have waited long enough for LTE..."Can't Wait"!!

Anyone hear anything about a Sprint release date for the G2? All Sprint will say is LATER THIS YEAR....could they be any more vague?! A Sprint rep did say their variant will have a removable battery so clearly configuration/manufacturing is slowing down the process. If this is the case, I will be happy to wait!

Hey friends, you have given really fantastic post which is really nice and great. How funny the pre-orders go up on 9-3, the day before the Galaxy Note 3 announcement, like that will have any impact on getting users on the fence. They will wait a day or two. That's great.
