It's not exactly a shock, but today NVIDIA did confirm it plans to offer owners of its recent Shield tablet an update to Google's newly announced Android 5.0 Lollipop. There's no word on exactly when this will happen.
The news, via NVIDIA's Twitter feed, shouldn't be much of a surprise as the Shield contains a 32-bit bit version of the Tegra K1 processor. Google's upcoming Nexus 9 tablet, which will be sold with Android 5.0 out of the box, has the 64-bit version. Interestingly, the Twitter message stated that the Shield tablet is getting "Android 5.0 Lollipop and more", suggesting that even more new features are in store for the gaming-themed device.
Are you glad that the NVIDIA Shield tablet is due for a Lollipop upgrade?
