Sprint Football Live

Sprint has again updated its Sprint Football Live application, and it wants to remind everyone that the services are free to every Sprint data subscriber.  Back in April, Verizon wrangled the official NFL blessing away from Sprint, and many thought that would be the end of football on Sprint, but they have been working and improving their Football Live app and it seems to offer some unique content

  • Live telecasts of NCAA games via ESPN TV
  • Game center for every NFL and collegiate game
  • Scores and schedule for all NFL teams, and 120 college teams
  • Exclusive content like player blogs, and team videos

With football season about to kick in, Sprint subscribers ought to check things out at the official Sprint Football Live page.  I will be, as I'm a huge NCAA football nut.  GO EERS!  Check out the full press release after the jump. [Sprint]

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Aug 16, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --

Whether you're standing on the sidelines at your child's weekend afternoon soccer game or need to keep up with your fantasy team while sitting in the stadium watching your favorite team, with Sprint Football Live it's no problem. Football fans can follow their favorite college and pro football teams, manage their fantasy drafts, and keep up with fantasy updates with the new Sprint Football Live app. Unlike some other wireless carriers, which charge extra for data and up to $10 a month additional for video, the new Sprint Football Live app and all content is free to Sprint (NYSE: S) customers with an Everything Data plan. With Sprint's 4G network, fans will experience live game viewing similar to what they see on a TV - without the lag.

  • Real-time "Game Center" for every pro and college game, with live game stats, scoring summaries, play-by-play and other updates.
  • Easy, one-click access inside the application to the following:
  • My Team - users can customize the app to their favorite pro and college teams so those teams' information appears first each time a user opens the app.
  • Scores and Schedules - for all 32 pro teams and all 120 major college teams.
  • News & Analysis - breaking news from the Associated Press, ProFootballTalk.com, and CollegeFootballTalk.com, and analysis from Yahoo Sports, Rivals.com and SB Nation.

  • Statistics - season and game stats for all players and teams, both college and pro.
  • Video & Photos - analysis from Yahoo!, CBSSports.com, ESPN and ProFootballTalk.com; exclusive videos from the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins; college football highlights for specific teams from ESPN Mobile TV; and game photos from the Associated Press.
  • Twitter - delivers the latest tweets from pro football players, pro and college teams, college coaches, and well-known media who cover football.

  • Alerts - customizable for specific team when they score, enter the red zone or updates at quarter, half and end of game. Also can get scoring updates for individual players helpful for fantasy player tracking.
  • Application will be customizable to a fan's favorite team(s) and players to deliver more in-depth information.

I agree. The "official" title has nothing to do with what is actually provided. The NFL app from Verizon is pretty lackluster.

I much rather LIVE NFL than LIVE NCAA...anyday... this doesn't really interest me. Justsayin

"Football"??? Ug. I would much rather have USB tethering included.

davidswank says:

most definitely, apply a good thing to something useful.

Can't download with CM6, tried to install the old version from an apk I have and it doesn't work either.

davidswank says:

They could pay me And I still would not use NCAA or NFL. I would love it if we had the option to UN-INSTALL this stuff from our phones.

Awesome update...fast and smooth on my EVO.

jxc says:

This is even better than when we had the official NFL name, I guess the name doesn't mean anything. Good job sprint.

japclev says:

Why don't the put the download on their Sprint Download section in the Market? They are not using it for anything else anyway!!!

PS Doesn't work with Dolphin, use standard Internet and Keyboard or go to http://gospv.com/sfls to download...

Whether I try on my phone or my regular browser, I get "Thank you for your interest in Sprint Football Live. Unfortunately, Sprint Football Live is not available yet for your device. Check out other great football content here. Visit sprint.com for a full list of Sprint Football Live devices."

...I'm using a Sprint Hero with CM6 Froyo - this would explain why I can't get it on my phone, but the laptop gives me the same issue?

aznmode says:

I tried watching some of the videos and they are pretty crappy. Anyone else. Using Calkulin Evio froyo 1.1.

here's what i DON'T like...last year on sprint nfl mobile live, sprint had the rights to the nfl radio broadcasts. because i was living in minnesota but am from wisconsin and am an avid packer fan, this was crucial for me when games weren't televised. now i don't have that same access :(

luckily i'm back in wisconsin so hopefully i won't need it.

dragonol2 says:

They also had the rights to NFL Network games and highlights... not sure if these are lost due to the "loss" of the NFL name to Verizon, but I'm pretty sure it IS lost, which SUX!!!

sandtiger says:

How long til the device/carrier restrictions are lifted and it is released in apk form...come on XDA get on it :)

hampstenj says:

honestly I'm surprised XDA hasn't released the apk of the Verizon app by now, they had the first VZW NFL app within a few days of it's release...

jsaget says:

Hope this work for me i'm prety sure it will.

jsaget says:

I'm new to this, i hope i will enjoy this when the time is right.
