It's not just you — WhatsApp servers are down!

WhatsApp, the incredibly popular instant messaging service recently purchased by Facebook for almost $20 billion, is offline at the moment. So, yeah, it's not just you. It's the WhatsApp servers. There's no word yet on how long the outage will last, so let us know in the comments whether it's working for you yet, and if not, when it starts working again!

It's now working here too :)

Posted via the app on my stock LG Optimus G E973 (4.1.2, soon be 4.4.2)

In Italy it was offline for almost an hour, now it seems to work again.
Any news about the new update?

I don't understand why people even use this app when BBM is available. For all of BlackBerry's troubles it's still the best messaging app available. I will never use anything else. It's either SMS or BBM for me.

Well what advantages does whatsapp offer that BBM doesnt? As far as I know whatsapp still doesn't support video and voice chat and you have to give people your phone numbers while BBM just has a PIN and I can easily block people without them knowing my phone number. You can block people on whatsapp but they still know your phone number. Plus you can only share pictures and videos while with BBM you can share all file types. If you like whatsapp better then to each his own.

I don't use WhatsApp but I wanted to comment that the sheer amount of places that android central readers are from is amazing.

It's not whatsapp, it is that stellar t- mobile coverage delaying the messages

Didn't notice anything here in Toronto but I might be wrong because I didn't use it all day.

Yeah for voice...but to text you need to add the plan: a clothes pin and post-it notes to run across the string.

But the string can't move in this setup, so you'd have to install a secondary network of a looped string on two pullies. Double the infrastructure ;)

Working awesome for me. I'm very happy to have What's App. I'm in the Military and this is the text app that I use to message family back home in Florida. The country that I'm in now sucks like no other but glad to be able to use this app. Hasn't failed me yet and even better that it's free since I only have service in different parts on base with wifi....

Could anyone guide me on how to bring my old chats from old phone to new phone? My numbers same, and I know i could copy the media folder from whatsapp folder. .. But that doesn't restore the chats. Any ideas?

Lately I haven't been using it that much, so I didn't notice there was an outage lol
