How To Factory Reset Your T-Mobile G1

Had the phone for three days. Spent almost 2 hours on the phone with tmobile tech support. I just did a factory reset on it, and I'm in like flynn. Thanks so much!!

Thanks. Had the same problem and this solved my problem. However after doing this my maps no longer works. I worked fine before this factory reset.

My brother's G1 phone also have the same gmail lock problem and I did the same factory reset. Now his google map also does not work. Wifi and GPS is on but I cannot detect My Location. Help.

After updating, the device shows that it is on RC30. I am unsure if that is the latest firmware though. How would I check/update to the latest release? Its been 48 hours so far, and no automatic update has been initialized. I've turned on and off the device as well to see if it would trigger anything. Nada. The how to that you have on here to upgrade is to go to RC29. What about 31/32?

Thanks! I couldn't get Bluetooth to turn on no matter how many times I turned the G1 off and on again, so I figured I'd better try a soft reset, but I haven't had the G1 long enough to know how to do that, so I Googled "G1 reset" and yours was the first entry that appeared.

I have a g1 that was bought with t-Mobile, I was traveling and wanted the unlock code so they gave it to me now I in the caribbean and I I facroty restored my phone. Even though the phone is unlocked I caoont get back into the phone. It gets up to the screen that says, "signed in please slide back the phone to continue" and it just keep searching on that screen and nothing happens. will I ever be able to get my settings back so I can use my phone on another network?

hi, my boyfriend is out of the country and i havent been able to talk to him for a long time... he said i culd use his g1. but he forgot to tell me his password. so when he called me he just told me to turn off the phonee and press the home+end keys until a yellow triangle appeared and to press alt+ (some key) i dont remember.. he didnt talk for long that time.. and he did not give me his password.. so what can i do to unlock it?? help me please

my G1 froze and i took the batery off,and when i put the batery on he can't turn on. Not work whit Home + end key.Pls Help

I have just bought a second hand T-mobile G1 but the person before has put a password in it and i cant access any applications without it. Will a factory reset clear this, then i can put my own in. Please help

I have a G1. It was working for a few days and then it started to update android to 1.5 and that caused my phone to lose service and i couldn't do anything. Technical support wasn't any help so I searched the internet and found this site and thank you very much. I didn't get my 1.5 update but at least my phone is working again. Thanks again.

I am looking to sell my g1 so I called up T-Mobile and got the unlock code and unlocked the phone. I want to wipe out all of my information before I sell it but I don't know if it will reverse the unlocking. Does anyone know? If I do a factory reset on it will it lock me out of the phone? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

here's my problem! i reset my g1 at home! and i do have wi fi.
but after reset the phone it ask me for my gmail and for that ii need internet. My question is... The only way is to active the intenet on the phone or there's another way because i cant do nothing with my celpphone except by an emerqency call .. HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP

You wont be able to get into the phone without a data connection... and wifi will not work unless you are already signed in. The phone needs to communicate with the google servers and without a EDGE or 3G connection that wont be poosible. If you like the G1, then you'll probably need to make a quick trip to the states to get it workin on the tmobile network

Ohh & btw, for some reason i cantt gett conecction anywhere,
or gett any type of connection, no WiFi , 3g. nore 2g

If you press the search button and type in settings you can uninstall the open home app without reseting your phone.

is it possibly to get into a g1 that has been disconnected ... because my bill is like 3OO & when i turn on my phone its tell me to sign in the phone with my email & password ... once i do this it tells me there is no data connection where do i go from here ?

Help!!! my g1 had been working fabulously for months as a prepaid, whenever i wanted internet, i just went on wifi..... anywho, in an attempt to reset my pattern, i stupidly entered it wrong...(more than 5 times).... so i did the factory reset thinking the unlocking(code obtained from tmobile cc)would remain intact.... it didn't and now i cant even get to the screen that asks for the unocking code, please help...im so distraught!

HI, Girlfriend was trying to guess my password and locked my phone out. I dont know the passwork to my email account to unlock it. Been onto googlemail to unlock it but dont know my security question. Is there anyway to unlock the phone without restoring it to facrory settings??

I was trying to reset my phone without using my power button because it dosent work. There has got to be another way you can reset without having to use that key. If anybody knows how please email me I would really appreciate that thanks.

I reset my T-Mobile G1 but i have a problem with id and password because i dont have internet access on my phobe.

I reset it and it comes up with the HTC like it is going to turn on with the sound and it keeps repeating itself over and over? How do I fix that?

For people with username and password issue >>> Get SIM card from Tmobile (coz Tmobile G1 is set to tmobile internet connection) capable to access internet. Create gmail account (at deskop computer) when its all done and gmail account fully created then place the tmobile SIM card to phone turn it on, set ur username and password, after u get to the screen as its posted upper of this article (black G1) turn it off and place ur own SIM card.
Thats how i done it when i bought my G1

i download CyanogenMod-4.2.7 to my rooted g1 and after it was done it began to reboot and now it wont go past the g1 screen and i've tried everything any advice?
