Sony has announced the Xperia M5 and Xperia C5 Ultra. Both mid-range smartphones were previously teased in a recent leak, but are now officially coming soon. The former packs a sizeable punch in a waterproof design, while the C5 Ultra has two 13MP cameras and a near borderless 6-inch HD display.
Starting with the Xperia C5 Ultra (pictured in the above render), we're looking at quite the capable handset, sporting a twin 13-megapixel camera setup - just in case you desired HD selfies as well as those breathtaking landscape shots. Both cameras include Sony Exmor RS sensor tech, HDR and auto preset modes.
Alongside the cameras, Sony has included a 6-inch HD IPS display, 1.7GHz 64-bit octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 4G support, and up to two-days battery life. The Xperia C5 Ultra comes in three colored variants - black, white and a glossy soft mint.
The Xperia M5 on-the-other-hand is touted as the "super mid-ranger". With a rear camera clocking in at 21.5-MP, Sony isn't holding back when it comes to optics in the new mid-range handsets. Just like the C5 Ultra detailed above, the Xperia M5 also sports a 13MP front-facing selfie machine. The M5 isn't as large as the C5 Ultra, should you be looking for something smaller than a 'phablet', and has a modest 5-inch HD display.
Interestingly, Sony opted to make the Xperia M5 waterproof and is protected against accidental splashes, just for those times when you decide to use your phone during a thunderstorm, while outside. There's a 2,600 mAh battery loaded, powering a 64-both 2.0GHz octa-core processor, and 3GB of RAM. The Xperia M5 comes in three color options - black, white, and gold.
Both smartphones will be made available from mid-August in select target markets.
