Dungeon Hunter HD -- Free for 24 hours.

Ah, December.  The month of friends, family, festive holiday cheer, giving gifts, awesome sales, and free Android games.

Gameloft, the developer behind Android games such as Let's Golf, N.O.V.A., Asphalt 5, and Assassin's Creed, are offering up one of their most popular titles -- Dungeon Hunter -- for an appealing price of free-ninety-free (that's $0).  Originally priced at $4.99, Dungeon Hunter offers a robust RPG/adventure game right on your Android phone.

You won't find this title in the Android market, so you'll have to head on over to Gameloft's website to get in on this deal, or hit the break to learn more about Dungeon Hunter for Android.

  • Discover the enormous world of Gothicus and achieve different types of quests and missions: explore, kill, protect, find special items… 5 faeries, each with their own personality, will help you, providing protection, powers and advice.
  • Create your own character: choose his class from Rogue (to act stealthily), Knight (to use the blade as your favorite weapon) or Mage (to perform the most powerful magic).
  • Evolve and progress along your adventure. Gain experience points by killing enemies or succeeding in certain quests, and choose how to distribute them according to the skills you want to favor.
  • Tons of items, weapons and armors to find or buy from the merchant. They will change the look and abilities of your character.

Android gamers won't want to miss out on this deal, so head on over to Gameloft's website and get your copy now.  And it might be a good idea to keep checking that link over the coming days.  You'll notice the "free-hd-game" part of the URL, so maybe Gameloft plans on giving away other quality Android titles?  [Gameloft]

dcpanther says:

Incredible, in theory...

touann says:

Work on N1! You have to dl from mobile browser!

Confirmed! Downloaded to N1 using mobile browser set to user agent Android! Thanks man and thanks to Gameloft!! and Android Central for alerting us!!

touann says:

God! Why! :(

dallen13 says:

I love that they're giving away free games but I'm not an RPG guy. No thanks after watching that video. I'll stick to Word Feud.

FNDomination says:

So, will the vibrant link work with the fascinate?

"Sorry, but there are no available game for your mobile. If you are using a web browser, please try to connect with your wap browser. " Great, now I'm probably going to get spammed by them. Thanks a lot for suggesting a game I can't even get. I have a Droid Incredible.

draken says:

Ensure "Mobile View" is enabled in your browser. That will take you directly to the download page. I had the same issue on my Incredible.

xeroglock says:

great nothing for captivate

chrisb3 says:

From @gameloft: If you're using Samsung Captivate, Fascinate or other Galaxy S device, please click Samsung GT-i9000 Galaxy S and let us know if that works.

aaronwe says:

Nope. Still not working on Captivate. Balls.

oldpapa49 says:

I tried to get it to dl, but the link sent via sms does not work on the cell, but thru firefox on desktop it knows I'm not a mobile phone..

Mobius360 says:

Working on the Epic.

ezun says:

Yes, very annoying, you have to look down below to select Dungeon hunter. They're trying the bait and switch.

EDIT: posted this to the wrong comment - meant to follow the comment about when you change your phone the game changes to a paid game.

fooshii says:

Ah! Thanks you!

fooshii says:

When you change your phone to anything the game changes to a racing game, not 100% sure about this deal anymore...

oldpapa49 says:

SMS does not work well, went to webpage and getting now..

smithe68 says:

Found nothing that said it was free, it wants $4.99.

Kevinjt4 says:

Then you obviously didn't go to the correct url. http://www.gameloft.com/free-hd-game/

ghbishop says:

Downloading is slow - did we crash the servers?

Johnston212 says:

For us Galaxy S (Vibrant, Fascinate, Captivate) owners you might want to try it on the GT-i9000 Galaxy S model, that's what they said to do on their twitter account. Of course I can't install it until later, thanks to AT&T's divine wisdom, but if this works, then I really hope they put NOVA out. I've been dying for a decent FPS for android.

Ytaay says:

i have the FASN8 and this worked for me.

Landon1983 says:

Sweet Jesus 130mb update after install? :P

Kevinjt4 says:

Use a wifi connection; 3G seems to not work worth a damn on my DX with ANY Gameloft game download.

mikevo says:

SWEET MUSIC

Kevinjt4 says:

Doesn't seem to update the demo I already have installed. And it would make it so much easier if Gameloft would simply add their games to the market!

^ This. Until they decide to join everyone else in the Android Market, they need me more than I need them.

ghbishop says:

Had to force close and restart the download. Takes a few minutes. You are going to want Wi-Fi to download.

Runs very well and looks great on Droid X.

Well done game - reminds me of Diablo,

Thanks Gameloft!

Fyrmedic654 says:

I-9000 works on my fascinate

markbebout says:

All the games say "Buy $4.99". How do you get the free version?

*EDIT* Go to the website on your computer and enter your info there. When you go to it on the mobile browser it shows all the games with the price.

paulus says:

Top right corner of their site. It asks for your phone type and phone number.

bridic says:

To to the link via your phone and you don't have to provide your phone number.

paulus says:

Was tempted till it asked for my phone number. I'd rather pay 4.99 that give them my number.

shoman24v says:

Got it for my galaxy tab, thanks!

OrionAntares says:

Did you use the Galaxy S link?

buddymc says:

I have a fascinate and I am still getting the "sorry, no games available for your phone" message. I selected the I9000 device.

Thlayli says:

This wouldn't be so hard if Google would get their head out of their @$$ and let developers discount a game to $0.00 in the marketplace. The Android Market will never compete with iTunes unless apps can be offered for free for a limited time. The way it works now, if you make something free it's free forever.

eyesparky says:

Gameloft refuse to use the Android Market as a distribution channel for their games. Their choice. A poor one in my opinion. Agree that such promotions should be allowed within the Market but this is not the reason Gameloft games are not sold there.

Getting the following message.

Sorry, but there are no available game for your mobile. If you are using a web browser, please try to connect with your wap browser.

markbebout says:

Scratch my edit up a few comments. The link they send just takes me to the same mobile site where the game is listed for $4.99, even after I change my phone type from Fascinate to i9000. Weird.

eerongal says:

yeah, im getting the same thing on my epic

DrifterX7 says:

I'm on a Captivate. Used the Vibrant link instead of the i9000 one. Works fine.

Captivate on Cognition Rom 2.1.7

NYBKPRE says:

http://gameloft.com/free-hd-game/

Sweet works on my Epic too

intristin says:

I'm on the Epic 4g and can download it without problem, but it won't install. I tried downloading it again and it still won't install.

(EDIT) Ok, I deleted the file from my phone and re-downloaded a new one and it worked. Can I just say that no 4G option to update sucks.

jbuggydroid says:

what???!!! are you kidding me??!!!! i just bought this game last month.... oh well hope they do this again with NOVA and AVATAR. those are the only two i don't own yet.

bridic says:

Loving the game. Had to make myself turn it off so I could get some work done.

ulfius#AC says:

I get the download link when using I-9000 for my Fascinate, but then I get the "sorry, no games available for your phone" message. It also shows my phone as "Samsung SCH-I500 Galaxy S" on the page.

tnez21 says:

Simply click on the text that shows your phone as "Samsung SCH-I500 Galaxy S." It will then take you to a page that will let you change the phone type to I-9000 Galaxy S, then select download, worked for me. good luck

eyesparky says:

Okay, apparently my comment on this one was flagged as spam. Short form ... Gameloft --> Market

cjbrigol says:

neat

Jowlah says:

Apparently, mine was also. Eventhough I don't know how to send spam. What is going on with the site?

eyesparky says:

The site's spam filter seems to be a little over zealous at the moment but to be fair we have been seeing less advertisements for shoes etc. ;)

Magellan says:

Not available for the Dezire Z/G2. Grrrrrrr

cjbrigol says:

Just pick nexus one. Working fine on my G2

Magellan says:

Nexus One didn't show as an option, so I picked HTC INcredible. It still says there are no games for my phone. How does it know I have a different model?

d1c1ple says:

I get the download link when using I-9000 for my Fascinate, but then I get the "sorry, no games available for your phone" message. It also shows my phone as "Samsung SCH-I500 Galaxy S" on the page. - same here :-( SMS txt comes over w/ link but does not work

chrisb3 says:

Try it from the mobile browser. If you're not using the stock browser, make sure it is set to Android and download using the I-9000. Should work.

ulfius#AC says:

When I go to the site via my stock browser, it doesn't give me a chance to select the phone type - it automatically detects Samsung SCH-i500. The only way I was able to try i-9000 was going to the website on my desktop and sending the download link via SMS.

sremick says:

Would check it out but it won't send an SMS to a perfectly-fine Google Voice number.

Would it kill GameLoft to send the download link to an EMAIL ADDRESS instead, which is free, always works, and which basically 100% of all Android smartphone users have their phone set up to access?

I guess if Gameloft is determined to give me and the Android Marketplace the finger, I'll give them one back.

uansari1 says:

I just went to the listed URL on my mobile browser and there was a download link. It even knew what device I was using (Nexus One), but downloaded the Milestone version according to the filename...?

Free is good

French says:

I'm yet another Fascinate user getting the "sorry, no games available for your phone" message. Very frustrating!

jwebste9 says:

No luck with my fascinate, if i do it from the phone it automatically says sorry but there are no games available for your mobile, and if i do it from computer, when i click link in the text it takes me to the same page

Titan808 says:

As usual... enter info for free Dungeon Hunter HD... received link and OH, what no free game! Moto X!

boogaloo1 says:

The file name said Motorola Droid, even though I'm using my HTC EVO. It loaded just fine and it plays great, so I'm not going to mess with it...it was free after all.

STENDEC says:

Seriously, when are Gameloft going to stop acting like whiny little b*tches and start selling stuff on the Android market? I refuse to buy a single one of their games from their store for a whole bunch of reasons, not the least of which is that it seems it hardly ever works properly! It's so annoying that they haven't even given a REASON why they won't sell stuff on the Market.

rabaker07 says:

Great, wanted to see this game in action for a while now.

Now that I've got it installed, I'm getting the ol' "Low on space" notification. Any way to avoid this? Will installing to SD card help, and if so, how is this done?

hermond says:

Thanks for the tip AC.
Very nice indeed, great game and a must for every Android user.
Works great on my SGS i9000.

Cheers.

mobilewill says:

@rabaker07 how did you get it installed? I haven't been able to download it on my Captivate. I tired the mentioned "tricks" and nothing. So much easier if it was int he market. I don't think I can install from the browser thanks to AT&T. I eitehr need the apk or it needs to be in the market.

so i guess those of us with 320x480 res phones will just have to miss out on this? or do you guys know how i can get this on my optimus s?

Fillyo says:

Installed on my Incredible, downloaded the 130mb file in under 4 minutes over wifi. Works perfectly. Thanks Gameloft.

Johnston212 says:

Not sure if people caught the twitter comment from Gameloft about the Captivate not being eligible. They are WRONG. I've been playing the game for the past hour or longer on mine. YOu will need to get the SWM to install it. Just choose the Samsung GT-I9000 Galaxy S option from the list and it works fine.

aaronwe says:

I've tried the i9000 and Vibrant options... I still get the "not supported" error when I click thru to the link. I'm on Cognition 2.3B6.

Ah well.

Johnston212 says:

It's really simple, I've done it with other apps. You download the file to your phone, you dock your phone to your computer, look for the download(s0 folder and copy/cut the apks to your computer. I have them saved in a folder named APK in My Documents. Then make sure you are set for the SWM and click, worked great.

mobilewill says:

That is what I had been trying, but how do you download the .apk to your desktop if they give you a text message to get the app?

(EDIT) I tried the url on my desktop but it wants to charge for.

mobilewill says:

I figured it out. When you click the link that you are texted you can change the phone that it detects. Then select the i9000 and download. Then Copy to you pc and use the SWM to install it!

ulfius#AC says:

No need to download to your PC, I just got it straight to my phone by editing the download URL to use a different phoneId. Get your download URL, then change phoneID=#### to phoneId=4350

mobilewill says:

I can't load on the phone because I have a Captivate without side loading enabled. I have to load using adb.

Johnston212 says:

I think I can tell you the reason why, its the ROM you are using that is making it problematic. If these are optimized for the phones themselves, they may very well be set to work on certain ROM components that cooked roms do not have.

Downloaded the full game for free last week. Runs excellent on a EVO.

sURFNmADNESS says:

Start your Wifi connection before you start the game. Requires another 130MB download to start the game the first time.

Raptor007 says:

Asphalt 5 is in the Android Market, and it is a Gameloft App, not sure why they don't have the others, but given the Droid X has a larger and better screen then my iTouch I am getting games for the Droid and will happily pay more for my platform.

recluse says:

Dont waste your time on this!

hansonator says:

I didn't have to choose phone. I just went to AC on my mobile browser and hit the link. Downloaded, installed, got update, force closed, relaunched and away I went.

Didn't get to play last night, I had a Christmas party, played a bit today though and it works flawlessly. No lag or choppiness. The graphics look great on my 4" SAMOLED! GT-I9000M

Thanks for the heads up AC! This should hold me over till Diablo III is finally released in 2025? :/

irespawned says:

Downloaded Dungeon Hunter just fine on my HTC Incredible. Checked out the Gameloft Twitter and they hinted that another free Android title will be up this week! :D
