Game Gripper

The folks over at Game Gripper have come up with an incredibly needed add-on for the Droid. This handy-dandy gadget slips over the Droid's keyboard and does the work of pressing the keys for you, bringing the feel of a real controller to you anywhere you are. Not exactly a high-tech solution, but who needs that? Video of it in action after the break.  [GameGripper via Engadget]

Yeah I will defiantly order one. Can't wait to try it out. I think they are actually local to where I am so i might see if I can go try it out in person.

While a pretty cool idea, I don't want something else to have to carry around.

I'm almost positive I'll be getting this.....even using the upside-down screen the keyboard blows! I won't bring it w/ me all the time, but if I know i'll be on a long ride or just doing nothing at home, this will be sweet........what I'm curious is that how do you know initially what keys it's covering? is it just guessing? maybe opening up a note or something & pressing each one?

Wow, this is really cool!

I always thought something more useful than keyboard when I play emu games on my Droid, and this looks perfect!

I bet they have instructions on which keys to set up inside of the settings to make this work.

This is pretty sweet. If i had a droid I'd get it for sure. Just not willing to get a keyboard for games

This is indeed a great idea! However, it just highlights the sad truth to how bad the Droid keyboard setup really is. This was the #1 reason I went with the Samsung Moment instead. The keys are setup perfectly for making the d-pad shape we all need for emulator gaming! In the end, this attachment is a great addition for the Droid, but it's just one more thing for you all to carry around in your pockets... that is unless you do not desire easy access to gaming and prefer to leave the attachment at home. I really hope Motorola learned from this keyboard fail! Motorola, when it comes to keyboards, stick with the Cliq!

BEWARE

I just got mine in today (May 3, 2010) I must say it's a cheap way to acutually play the emulators. My down button is supposed to press the X key on the keyboard. However it occasionally hits the search button below. On their site they claim that they re-design the thing so it doesn't slip around. Plus I accidentally ripped it by the up key.
