Facebook may be close to launching yet another stand-alone app. A new report says that the app, called Notify, will be released sometime next week. It is supposed to send alerts to users for news stories, and Facebook has reportedly entered into partnerships for Notify with many major news and media outlets.
According to the Financial Times, some of the media outlets that will offer alerts for the Notify app include CNN, The Washington Post, and Mashable. It's thought that Facebook is trying to compete with similar efforts such as Twitter's recently launched Moments feature, which offers curated posts centered around news events.
