LG Optimus F7

Mid-range specs meet LTE connectivity at an acceptable off-contract price point for the prepaid market

As rumored, the LG Optimus F7 is making its way to Boost Mobile with a $299 off-contract price and mid-range specs. This is the budget prepaid carrier's fourth LTE device of the year, and looks to be very similar to the version recently launched on U.S. Cellular. The Optimus F7 is squarely in the mid-range of specs, with a 4.7-inch 720x1280 display, 1.5GHz dual-core (Snapdragon S4 Plus) processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage and 8MP/1.3MP cameras. Naturally, the Optimus F7 is running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean with LG's customizations and bundled apps.

The Optimus F7 will be available starting June 27th for $299 without a contract, and when paired with one of Boost Mobile's $55 unlimited plans can be a real cost saver over the alternative high-end devices.

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Boost Mobile, a leader in the no-contract wireless industry and ranked “Highest in Purchase Experience among Non-Contract Wireless Providers” by J.D. Power and Associates1, and smartphone powerhouse LG Electronics USA today introduced the LG Optimus F7. Available June 27 for $299.99 (plus tax), the premium Android™ smartphone will operate on the Sprint 3G and 4G LTE networks, with blazing fast 4G LTE available to Boost Mobile customers in 110 markets and counting.

“The LG Optimus F7 is the ideal smartphone for customers looking for a premium, high-performance Android device without a contract,” said Andre Smith, vice president-Boost Mobile. “In addition to a high-speed 4G LTE experience, Boost Mobile rewards each monthly unlimited customer with shrinking payments for simply paying on time.”

“Packed with features that enhance productivity and creativity, the LG Optimus F7 allows Boost Mobile customers to create and share content with speed and ease,” added Georg Rasinski, director, mobile phones brand management, LG Electronics USA. “Whether you’re multitasking with QSlide 2.0, creating and sharing content with QuickMemo™ or collaborating with VuTalk™, this smartphone has everything you need to stay on top of your game.”

The LG Optimus F7 is the latest 4G LTE addition to Boost Mobile’s growing lineup of smartphones. The smartphone is loaded with Android 4.1 Jellybean operating system and features designed to help users create and share content like never before. QSlide 2.0 allows users to overlay up to two application windows on an existing open application, adjusting size and transparency as needed for greater multitasking functionality. Pictures and videos can be captured and shared easily with Optimus F7’s large, 4.7-inch True HD IPS display, speedy and powerful dual core, 1.5GHz processor and rear-facing 8MP BSI camera with 1080p Full HD video capture. In addition, thanks to the powerful battery, users can experience up to 17 hours of talk time.

Exclusive to LG and available on the Optimus F7 are innovative features that enhance the user experience. With VuTalk, the LG Optimus F7 lets users brainstorm with friends and colleagues, sharing fun and productive notes and images visually with each other in real time between compatible devices. Collaborative creations are then automatically saved in the Notebook app for later use. QuickMemo lets consumers take screenshots and add personalized notes, drawings and messages, then share them via social media, text or email – perfect for a spur-of-the-moment thought or just to add some fun commentary to photos or screenshots. For example, pull up a map and with the swipe of a finger, circle the meeting spot, write in the meeting time and immediately share it with friends so everyone knows exactly where and when to meet. The Optimus F7 also features a dedicated QuickMemo button on the side of the phone to quickly pull up the feature and begin capturing and sharing notes.

Additional key features of the LG Optimus F7 include:

Dual Mode 3G/4G LTE
1.5GHZ Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus Processor
1.3MP Front Facing Camera
Bluetooth 4.0

The LG Optimus F7 and 4G LTE are combined with Boost Mobile’s no annual contract2 $55 Android Monthly Unlimited plan with Shrinking Payments. Cool, if only it was cheaper and Boost Mobile plans were better.

Most people buying smartphones aren't thinking about how they use their phones. All they do is talk and text, so they are okay with budget unlimited plans that aren't big on data. Instead of these people buying high priced phones they should just consider a feature phone with smart apps. I feel sorry for those people and how the carriers laugh at them everytime they pay their bill.

$50 for 2.5Gbs of high speed data plus unlimited texts and calls when you can get calls and texts for free.

What I don't understand is why is there no prepaid carrier offering unlimited data

T-Mobile and MetroPCS who are they?

That price is absurd, could have easily have been $250.

$299 seems to be about the right price for these types of phones on Boost and Virgin. US Cellular announced the same device at $99 on-contract.

It's equal to the Mid-Range Nexus 4 so the price is in line just like with the Nexus 4, for what you get.. T-Mo has better plan pricing though.

MERCDROID says:

Actually, the Nexus 4 is high-end (at least, it was, when it was released). But, I do agree, T-Mobile does have way better plan pricing. I would actually consider At&t prepaid pricing, as well, over Boost Mobile.

I thought the F7 had 2gb of ram not 1gb??? Might be worth the extra $100 to get the SIII with 2gb of ram.

Mes3 says:

According to GSMArena it should have 2gb of ram and 4.7in screen (not 4.5 as listed here). But Phonescoop says 1gb of ram and a 4.7in screen. Who knows.

You're correct on the 4.7 vs. 4.5, that's just a typo on our part. Our understanding is 1GB of RAM, however.

Mes3 says:

Ahh. I might pick one of these up later down the road when Radio Shack had a sale.
