Best Meta Quest 2 holiday gifts
Sure, buy someone the headset and make their year. But there are a ton of accessories, games, and other gifts for people who already own the Quest 2.
The Meta Quest 2 is the best possible way to introduce someone to VR, but even with the current Quest 2 deal happening during the holidays, it's a bit pricey for a Christmas gift, or they might already have one! In that case, don't fret: we have other Quest 2 gift recommendations for the VR lovers in your life, whether or not they already have the headset. Or, if you're a big VR fan, these could make a great gift for yourself. After a long year, you deserve a treat too, right?
Wow your VR-loving family and friends with the best Oculus Quest 2 gifts
Why you can trust Android Central
The only VR headset you should buy
Originally a Black Friday exclusive, this bundle is still available at some retailers like Target and Best Buy as of December 19. You get $50 off the 128GB Quest 2 or $70 off the 256GB model, as well as two of the best Quest 2 games for free (a $70 value): Beat Saber and Resident Evil 4 VR. If you're going to buy one, whether for yourself or someone else, now is the time!
Grow their library
Meta lets you buy any Quest 2 game as a gift, sending the game code as an email. Simply go to the Meta Quest store on the web or mobile app, choose a game, (on mobile) tap the "..." option, and select Buy for a friend. You'll need to log into a Meta or Facebook account, and then enter their email. Unfortunately, there's no way to schedule the gift, so you'll need to make the purchase the same day you want them to receive it. We'll recommend some good giftable games below if you need advice.
A guaranteed winner
If you're not confident about which games your giftee already owns, you can buy them a $15, $25, or $50 gift card. While you can find a few games for under the first amount, most games range between $20-$40, so the higher amount will net them one major game (and change) or a couple of games on sale. Whether they're a new or long-time Quest owner, they'll appreciate that extra cash.
Much more comfortable
The Quest 2 rests firmly on your face and forehead, which can cause sweat and skin irritation. That, in turn, causes lens fogging due to how heat rises inside the headset. Your Quest-loving gift recipient will appreciate this bundle, which we rated the best face cover replacement because it offers extremely comfortable padding, plus two pairs of vents on top and bottom that greatly improve air circulation.
Never stop playing
The default Quest 2 strap is uncomfortably unsupportive and front-heavy, while the headset's battery only lasts about 2 hours. A replacement strap like the BOBOVR M2 Pro solves both problems, giving you a more comfortable strap with a knob for an exact fit, plus a battery pack on the back that balances the weight out and doubles the battery life. In this case, it's a swappable battery pack, meaning when one dies, you can insert a second and keep playing. It's our favorite strap alternative.
Comfort for less
As much as we love Quest 2 straps with battery packs, they're fairly pricey and do add to the weight of the headset. We gave the YOGES head strap a five-star rating, calling it the "best Quest 2 head strap without a battery." It provides "pillowy softness" and great weight distribution, with better support on your forehead rather than pressing all of the weight against your face.
Rest your hands
Quest 2 owners spend a lot of time with their fingers wrapped tightly around controllers, unable to let go for fear of sending them flying into a wall. These knuckle grips attach to your hand so they stay afixed even if you let go, with a bit of nice padding and easier access to the battery slot than you get with the default controller. They're a fun upgrade and some of our favorite Quest Touch controller hand straps.
Make VR more social
It's a bit awkward to watch someone play VR, since you have no way of knowing what they're doing or reacting to. If you want your family member to enjoy the Quest while you get in on the fun, you can buy them (or yourself) a Chromecast, since the Quest 2 lets you cast its footage to your TV. The Google TV version also supports 4K streaming and the newest Android TV interface with movie and show recommendations.
Keep it protected
A carrying case is a good gift for the Oculus Quest 2 because it needs some extra protection. Sunlight can damage its display, and you don't want to drop the headset or the Touch Controllers. This carrying case from Oculus fits the headset and controllers perfectly, with extra room for an Elite Strap if you need it, without adding much bulk.
How to choose the right Meta Quest 2 gifts
We have a number of Quest 2 accessories guides that tell you what a new Quest 2 owner needs; if they haven't had the headset for long, you can buy any of these without worrying. But if they've had the headset for a while, you may want to inspect their Quest 2 yourself and see if it already has modifications, before you buy something the owner already has.
The safest bet, of course, is to get them a Quest gift card or gift them a game, assuming you can figure out which games they already own. But which games would they like? You can check our best Quest 2 games guide for a comprehensive list of the best games in each category, from action and horror to family-friendly and exercise games. But some of our favorites can be nauseating for new VR gamers, so we have a guide on our favorite Quest 2 games that avoid motion sickness well-suited to first-timers.
Of course, the best Quest 2 gift is to buy the headset itself, assuming you can afford it. Just keep in mind that the person will best enjoy it if they have a large space to play, since they can easily hurt themselves swinging their arms into or tripping over furniture.
