Motorola Photon 4G rooted

If you're the proud owner of a shiny new Motorola Photon 4G and itching for some root action, you're in luck -- provided you have the HD dock, some USB computer peripherals, and access to a monitor or TV with an HDMI input.  An exploit that can be delivered and run via the Webtop application has been discovered by Android hacker edgan, and it should get you rooted and ready to go as long as you have the required hardware.  The exploit and the method seem simple enough, you're just uploading a few files over an SSH connection, but the setup is where things get a little hairy.  Luckily, edgan has a really complete set of step-by-step instructions and links to all the needed resource files.  Hit the source link, have a read, and give it a whirl.

Update: Wanna see how it's done? We've got video after the break.

Hopefully they can get the bootloader taken care of.

I just hope they can figure out how to root it without having to use the webtop.

I am surprise they can not do the way they rooted the Atrix.

Hmm... I do not have a Photon, but I am having trouble seeing why webtop is needed for this? Everything done there can be done from the phone... Unless the fact that webtop is running is part of the exploit, I don't understand why it is needed.
