AT&T is now offering two new plans for users of its GoPhone Wireless Home Phone and Internet service, which offers both nationwide phone access as well as data via a "Home Base" device.

The new plans offer unlimited calls and 5GB of data a month for $60 or unlimited calling and 10GB of data for $80 a month. Both plans do require the purchase of the "Home Base" device which can be hooked up to a user's regular phone or a Wi-Fi connected device.

As AT&T says:

These plans are great for customers who lead on-the-go lifestyles, need an alternative to DSL or dial-up Internet access, and prefer prepaid services. Customers can take their "Home Base" with them on vacation, to a remote work location, second home, or any other location in the United States where AT&T has a wireless network."

What do you think of these new plans for the GoPhone Wireless Home Phone and Internet service?

  • I don't know of anyone that currently has dial up... Posted up in da paint!
  • I do someone I know has a 56k modem connected to a router so it's basically shitty speeds but wireless Posted via Nexus 7 2013 or Galaxy S5
  • That's cool if it meets some people's needs. $60 for 5g of WiFi data isn't worth it for me (especially on top of what I'm already paying for WiFi).
  • When I was porting my late mother's AT&T land line (I am the executor of the estate, and the phone number has been "ours" for at least 35 years) they tried offering that to me. I had walked in with a Moto G LTE. I can see a use for it, but for the $80 a month, I would probably get U-Verse "internet only" and get 18 Mb/s and save $19.00 a month, and port the land line to a VOIP service Posted from my XT1080M

Or I could just go with any Tmobile device, pay half the price, and just turn on the wifi hotspot with a VPN. Why in the flying hell would anyone do this? Even having better coverage than Tmo, this is NOWHERE NEAR worth the price they are asking!!! You'd have to be retarded to go for this bullshit!!
  • $30 T-Mo SIM, a spare phone with hotspot turned on, 5GB for $30 and no WIFI needed for it to work. Come on At&t, you're not even trying any more.
  • But T-Mobile is not "building you a better network." So, if it works, Great, otherwise, what's the use.
  • That is assuming T-mobile works where there is no DSL or Cable internet, highly unlikely.
  • No its not. It IS assuming TMO works where you need it though. Posted via Android Central App
  • This kind of service is an option for people who have ruined their relationship with the local cable provider, and other services like FiOS, satellite and U-Verse aren't an option because of poor credit. I'm not sure how many folks have a "spare" smartphone ... or care to go through the process of buying an unlocked smartphone to gain access to its hotspot feature. AT&T is offering a one-stop solution, and in exchange for the ease of access, you pay through the nose for it. That's capitalism!
  • Compare service to service. At&t's offer here is prepaid home phone and data. Unlimited calling +10gb. $80
T-Mobile prepaid 5gb of data $70 no home phone option. Want unlimited data (while on T-Mobile network- which we know is awful) $80 good deal assuming you don't go off network. Still no home phone option.
So before you start trolling every offer because you have a drawer full of unlocked phones ready for for a SIM and a hijacked data plan take the time to compare plans to plans. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I wasn't trolling anything. I stated an option. If you don't like, move along. No worries. The WalMart TMO plan I was referring to is $30 for 5GB. I wasn't even considering the home phone option because it refers to the use case as someone on the go. And for all of you complaining about not having a spare device, the savings of +$30 a month would allow you to recoup the cost in less than a year for used device, or even a moto G, E, etc. Posted via Android Central App
  • Is there 20.00 with taxes... fees etc? That's $100.00 not 80.00 Posted via Android Central App
  • It is prepaid so only the local sales tax in your area. 5% 8% whatever your state sales tax is. Posted via the Android Central App
  • ^^^^^ the number has been ours for over 35 years ! Really ? What service did u have 35 years ago Posted via the Android Central App
  • They are called landlines, sold through POTS.
  • Probably Ma Bell.
