The Pixel series is about as good as it gets for Android purists and enthusiasts. You get clean and responsive software, some of the best cameras in modern smartphones, and in the case of the Pixel 4 XL, even decent battery life. Pixels are also first in line for new software revisions, including the recent Android 11 update.

For this year's Prime Day deals, you can save big on last year's big Pixel with a 38% discount, bringing the total price for a 64GB model in either black or white to just $549.

The Pixel 4 XL is still a terrific phone with good battery life, a large screen, and one of the best cameras you'll find on a modern smartphone. Of course, it's also one of the first phones to receive new versions of Android.

As its name suggests, the Pixel 4 XL boasts a large screen — 6.3 inches, to be exact — and with that screen comes a 90Hz refresh rate that makes the phone feel extra smooth and snappy. It also has a powerful Snapdragon 855 processor, along with Google's Neural Core, a specialized chip that handles computational tasks surrounding the phone's cameras.

Those cameras are perhaps the best part of owning a Pixel. The 12.2MP main sensor takes absolutely stunning photos in nearly any lighting condition, even in the dead of night thanks to its Night Sight and astrophotography modes. You can also take great-looking Portrait Mode shots that practically look as if they were taken on a dedicated camera.

The Pixel 4 XL is still one of the best Android phones, and is also running the latest version of Android 11, and should continue to receive platform updates until at least 2022. That puts it in a better position for software longevity than even most Android phones released today, despite being a year old already. If you're somebody who likes to hang onto their phones for a few years, the Pixel 4 XL is an excellent option.
