The next phone from OnePlus isn't too far away from launch. Carl Pei, founder and director of OnePlus Global, stated in an interview that the OnePlus 3 will be released sometime in the second quarter of 2016. That means it will be available less than a year after the launch of OnePlus 2 in late July 2015.
Pei offered that launch time frame in a chat with CNET:
Pei declined to disclose many details about the upcoming smartphone, which will be the China-based vendor's fourth model and new flagship device. But Pei said he hopes the new model will "captivate" users as much as its first smartphone, 2014's OnePlus One. He also said the new phone will feature a "new design," which implies a departure from its predecessor, the OnePlus 2.
Peil did say that the company's U.S. presence "will be very important for us this year" and added that OnePlus plans to include more "traditional marketing" for the OnePlus 3.
