Finally, after so many months in the dark, it looks like the T-Mobile myTouch 3G will get an update to Android 2.1. Hip hip hooray! According to Andrew Sherrard, T-Mobile's VP of Product Innovation, the myTouch 3G will receive the update to 2.1 and the updated UI that we've seen in the myTouch Slide. Features like the 'Genius' button will also be put into the myTouch which means the myTouch 3G will pretty much become a brand new device.
As great as this is, it's not too surprising. Rogers has planned an upgrade for the Magic for some time already, so it's more like a confirmation. T-Mobile is currently doing internal testing to fix out the bugs so everything will be in working order. Sadly the timeline is the ever so vague "soon". Check out the myTouch Slide UI in action to get an idea of what your myTouch 3G will look like in the future. [techland via tmonews]
