Amazon Prime Day always brings the best pricing of the year to Amazon's own hardware, including its most popular smart speakers. Normally, Echo Show devices retail from $100-$250, but we're seeing discounts for as much as 50% off some of these smart speakers. Those prices are so good that it's worth grabbing a couple of them, even if you already own a few.

These tend to sell very well, and certain sizes are likely to sell out during Prime Day. If you're interested in securing one for yourself, be sure to get your order in now!

Prime Day deals are finally here after a few delays, and Amazon products are sure to be at the top of the discount pile. One of the most popular items to be purchased on Prime Day year after year is the Echo Show line of smart-screened speakers, and you may be considering buying one for yourself this time around. Whether you already have Echo Show devices or are finally looking to get your first one, you might be wondering whether or not Prime Day is a good time to buy an Echo Show.

The elder statesman of the lineup is the second-generation Echo Show. This was the first to usher in the design that Amazon's been suing from 2017 to mid-2020 and continued through the Echo Show 5 and 8. Since the Echo Show (2nd Gen) has been around for a few years and looks to be getting replaced by the Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen), we anticipate some great deals to be had over Prime Day as supplies last.

You can grab an Echo Show 5 for $50 right now; that's less than a new Echo Dot speaker!

The Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8 are nearly identical, and the only significant differences are their screen size and physical footprint. Both have physical camera covers and mute buttons for privacy, and a 1MP camera for video chatting. As you would expect, the Echo Show 8 has a slightly larger and slightly louder speaker than the Echo Show 5, but both will get the job done if you're near them. Neither is a great replacement for a great Alexa speaker experience, but they're both perfectly fine for watching a video at your desk or following along with a cooking tutorial in the kitchen.

The all-new Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen) is perhaps the most exciting Alexa smart speaker ever, with the best camera on a smart screen, improved speakers, and a built-in Zigbee smart hub. This device can rotate on a swivel and follow your body's shape so that you can see what you want to watch from any angle in a room, and it can also function as an Alexa Guard device and home security camera. Amazon has not yet announced when the device will be available to order or when it will ship, but we'll include links below so that you can buy one as soon as possible.

With Black Friday right around the corner, we understand the hesitation, but we fully recommend buying an Echo Show on Prime Day.

Prime Day is the best time to buy any Amazon device

Historically, Amazon has always put its own devices front and center of all the discounts. It's usually the best time of the year to pick up any of its hardware, including Echo smart speakers, Echo Show devices, Fire tablets, Fire TV devices, and Kindles. Usually, Amazon drops the price to the lowest its been for the year during Prime Day, which means that it's a great time to buy one.

Look for Echo Show bundles to save more

While Amazon is discounting its devices by themselves for Prime Day, you may find even better deals by looking at the bundles that are being offered instead. For example, right now, you can score an Echo Show 5 with a Blink Mini camera or an Echo Show 5 and TP-Link smart plug — each just $5 over the current sale price for Prime members.

If you prefer a slightly larger screen, you can grab an Echo Show 8 with an adjustable stand and save $25 off of the normal bundle price. As a bonus, both the Echo Show 8 and Echo Show (2nd Gen) come with a one-year subscription to the Food Network Kitchen channel. What a great way to get started on setting up your connected home!

Amazon Echo Show 8

The Echo Show 8 sits in the sweet middle ground among its siblings, with a fairly large screen that doesn't take up too much space. Like the smaller Show 5, this speaker also comes with a physical camera cover and mute switch.

Black Friday pricing isn't likely to be lower than this

With Black Friday just a few short weeks away, it's unlikely that Amazon will beat this pricing during the holiday shopping season. Historically, Amazon has matched the pricing during Black Friday, but if product availability is as light on Black Friday as it has been for the rest of this year, it's unlikely we see Amazon attempt to beat the price if they even match it then.

Overall, we think that the time to buy an Echo Dot is right now. Be sure to check out the rest of the deals now to see what else is worth buying on Prime Day 2020!
