Xperia Play gaming

Since the Xperia Play is the unofficial Playstation phone, games are going to be a big part of it's attraction.  Sony Ericsson let us all know that the Play will launch with 50 titles when it hits the shelves this March, and later this year they will debut the Playstation store for Android.

The Xperia Play runs Gingerbread and has the new 1GHz Snapdragon/Adreno 205 on board, and according to Sony Ericsson, your games will be running at 60fps.  Multiplayer gaming is supported, and with all we've seen so far, this one was worth waiting for.

Some of the content partners at launch will be:

  • Digital Chocolate
  • Digital Legends
  • Electronic Arts
  • Fishlabs
  • Gamehouse
  • Gameloft
  • Glu Mobile
  • Handy Games
  • Namco Bandai
  • Polarbit
  • Pop Cap
  • Trendy Entertainment
  • Unity Technologies

Combined with their own in-house content from Sony Entertainment, it's looking like they're serious about having fun.  Hit the break to see what Jonas Berg, SE's official gaming ambassador has to say.

Gaming on the Xperia Play

with the power of newer smartphones i dont see why they cant play ps2 games, ps1 games are announced but why nothing about ps2 games

Lets just see what this phone actually has and dose when it comes out. I wouldnt trust a single word sony speeks till then

so the two circles are magnets? I think they are, what a downer. I'm just gonna wait for the PSP2. BUT! this phone is still awesome, and with emulators, it will be king.

i had not interest in this phone simply because it didnt have a dual core processor and isn't 4g but all of sudden i find out its on verzion and i am a little bit more interested in it now just for emulators and some psp like games even though i will own a ngp.
