Among its Mobile World Congress announcements, Huawei has unveiled a new, cellular enabled tablet, the MediaPad X2. At 7-inches we'd hesitate to call it a phone, but it has an earpiece and you can use it to make phone calls.
From the front, the MediaPad X2 looks a little like a bigger version of 2014's Ascend Mate 7, with the same 80% screen-to-body ratio complete with super slim side bezels. It's an update from the MediaPad X1, with the big story being the addition of a 2.0GHz Kirin 930 ultra-octa chipset and support for Cat 6 LTE.
Other hardware specs of note are a 1920x1200 resolution display, 5000mAh battery, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front facing camera and Android 5.0 Lollipop beneath Huawei's EMUI custom software.
The MediaPad X2 will be available in two versions, one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage, and one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB onboard storage. Both will be available in Dual-Sim LTE versions. The 16GB/2GB option will be available in titanium silver, while the "premium version" will be available in rose gold.
We'll be going hands-on with the MediaPad X2 in a little while, so stay tuned.
