USCC smartphone pricing

An anonymous tipster has sent us the latest price sheets from US Cellular, and it has it's fair share of Android phones.  From the low end Samsung Gem, to the holy grail of the HTC Merge, it lists all US Cellular has to offer.

A couple things of interest --

  • The LG Apex ($249) and the LG Optimus U ($199) both have a prepaid option
  • The $55 dollar monthly plan for a Galaxy Tab will save you $200 on the up-front costs ($299 versus the $499 cost with the $15 monthly plan)
  • The LG Genesis checks in at $450 off contract, and $250 with a two-year smartphone plan.

All these prices are before the standard rebates, if any apply.  Makes you realize -- our toys are awfully expensive, aren't they?  The full price sheet is after the break.

Thanks, Anon!

My girlfriend is stuck on US Cellular, but she was upgrading to a smartphone and wanted to get something like my EVO 4G. We stopped in the store, and her friend (who is a rep) said they weren't going to get anything like the EVO from HTC for the rest of the year. She ended up getting the Samsung Mesmerize, which for people who don't know, is the same phone as the Fascinate on Verizon. She's had it for about 2 months now and she's been happy with it. If only it had Sense instead of TouchWiz...

I see they have the Merge which is basically the EVO Shift, but she wanted a larger screen and no external keyboard. I'm glad this list doesn't have a phone like the OG EVO on it, because we possibly would have had buyer's remorse.

Yea, thank God US Cellular won't get a great phone for the thousands of other people (/sarcasm). Way to be selfish dude.

If I were you, I'd want the best possible phone for my girlfriend on her carrier. If price is a concern (which I doubt since you bought a not-so-cheap Mesmerize), you could always eBay the Mesmerize and pay the difference so it doesn't come out super expensive.

I know, I know. I meant for MY sake I'm glad they don't have an HTC "superphone" yet. Also I'm glad they don't because the US Cellular Rep said they wouldn't be getting one anytime in the near future.

Hopefully for everyone else's sake they come out with a nice HTC phone before the end of the year. Hell, I'll even buy it for the gf for Christmas and sell her Mesmerize online.

its = something belonging to it
it's = contraction of "it is" or "it has"

e.g.- "...and it has its fair share of Android phones."

Just saying.
