Micromax's wholly-owned subsidiary, Yu Televentures, has launched its third handset in the Indian market, the Yunique. The brand has a licensing deal with Cyanogen through which it bundles Cyanogen OS on all of its phones, with the latest addition to its family becoming one of the most affordable handsets at ₹4,999 ($78) to offer Android 5.1.1 Lollipop-based Cyanogen OS 12.1 out of the box.
Yu's business model involves online-only flash sales, and as such the Yunique will be available for sale exclusively at retailer Snapdeal. Available with removable back covers, the retailer is offering a bundle that includes two additional back covers for ₹5,499 ($85). The first flash sale commences September 15, with interested customers able to register for the sale until 8AM IST on September 14.
The specs include a 4.7-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 410 SoC, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal memory, microSD card slot, dual-SIM, LTE connectivity, 8MP camera at the back with f/2.0 lens, 2MP front shooter and a 2,000mAh battery.
