Good news this morning for anyone rocking T-Mobile's HTC Sensation 4G -- as we reported a couple of days ago, the Sensation's update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich begins rolling out today. So head to Settings > About phone > Software updates to see if your update is ready yet.

In addition, T-Mobile has today revealed that its HTC Amaze 4G will be joining the Sensation on ICS from next Monday, May 21. Just like the Sensation's ICS upgrade, the Amaze OTA will bring it up to Android 4.0.3 and HTC Sense 3.6. That's the same intermediary version of Sense that we've seen on other updated phones, adding many of the features we've seen on newer Sense 4.0 phones, but sticks with the visual style of the older Sense 3.x.

If you're after one of those new HTC Desire C's and don't want to wait until June for the carrier-branded versions, it looks like you'll be able to pick up the device SIM-free in just over a week. British online retailer Clove Technology sends word that it'll be stocking HTC's latest budget handset from next Thursday, May 24. Clove's price is £189.99 including VAT, a little higher than the £170 or so that networks will be asking for, but that's to be expected for an unlocked handset.

The Desire C, which was officially announced yesterday, revives the classic Desire brand and the in a 3.5-inch device that looks like a cross between a One S and a Wildfire S. It's powered by a 600MHz Snapdragon S1 chip, so it's hardly bleeding edge, but the inclusion of ICS, NFC and Beats Audio should give budget buyers plenty to play with.

According to forum reports, the unlocked, international HTC One X (that's the One rocking Tegra 3 as opposed to Snapdragon S4) has received another small over-the-air update this morning, bringing the device up to version 1.29.401.11. This one's smaller than some previous One X OTAs, at just 14MB, and according to early reports it fixes issues with screen flickering and USB storage, though the dreaded Wifi disconnection bug apparently remains.

If you're running an unlocked One X, be sure to grab the latest update (Settings > About phone > Software updates), and let us know in the comments if you're noticing any major differences.

Samsung originally revealed May 29 as the official launch date of the Galaxy S III in Europe, before retailers started announcing the device for a purported May 30 release. Today it seems the original date of May 29 will still stand, but only for pre-order customers in a handful of stores across the UK.

This morning Samsung UK sends word that customers pre-ordering the Galaxy S III at the Samsung store at London's Westfield Stratford City will be able to pick up their phones from 6pm local time on Tuesday, May 29. But if you're not in London, then don't worry -- Samsung is giving other retailers the chance to hold its own early launch events for pre-orderers, as early as 7pm on that evening. So it's worth checking with any stores in your area if you fancy getting your hands on an S III a few hours before everyone else.

Regardless, the phone will go on sale nationwide on May 30, and it'll be available on all five major UK networks.

British mobile operator O2 has begun rolling out a new, faster mobile network standard across major British cities, according to reports. Crave​ is reporting that O2 has started switching on DC-HSPA. The "DC" part stands for dual cell, and this new standard doubles the bandwidth available over traditional HSPA+, enabling maximum theoretical download speeds of up to 42Mbps. For the less technically minded, it just means faster 3G data, assuming your phone's hardware supports it.

And that's the big sticking point at this stage. Right now there are only three leading devices that support DC-HSPA -- the HTC One X, the new iPad and the Nokia Lumia 900. In any case, if you're rocking a One X on O2 in a major British city (no word on which ones), then you'll likely be treated to faster data speeds from now on.

Rival UK networks are looking to roll out DC-HSPA later this year, ahead of the expected UK LTE switch-on in 2013 and beyond. Three says it'll start upgrading its network with the new standard "this summer," while T-Mobile and Orange (under the "Everything Everywhere" banner) are reportedly aiming for the end of the year. Vodafone tells ​Crave it already uses DC-HSPA on its network, albeit at slower speeds of up to 28Mbps.

New budget phone from HTC coming to Three, Orange and T-Mobile UK

After a series of leaks, it looks like the HTC Desire C is finally official. The new entry-level device from HTC has been announced today, and in the UK it looks like it'll be heading to all five major networks, as well as Tesco Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Phones4U and Carphone Warehouse. The Desire C looks like an upgraded version of last year's Wildfire S -- it's got a 3.5-inch HVGA display, a 5MP camera, Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich, Beats Audio software enhancements and NFC capabilities. There's no official word on what's powering the Desire C, but pre-release reports point to a 600MHz Snapdragon processor.

T-Mobile will offer the Desire C for free on 2-year contracts from £15.50 per month, and it'll also sell the phone on Pay As You Go for £169.99. Orange UK will offer the same PAYG price, but a slightly higher monthly fee of £20.50 if you're after a free Desire C on contract. Other networks have yet to announce pricing details.

The release of the Desire C is slated for sometime in June, and in the UK it'll be available in black and white, while international markets will also get a red version.

As promised last week, fresh release candidate for the Android 2.3-based CyanogenMod 7.2 are starting to appear, bringing the popular custom firmware to a handful of new devices, while bringing the usual mix of software enhancements and bug fixes. A quick glance at the CyanogenMod download site reveals that CM7.2 RC2 builds are now available for a number of popular devices, including the LG Optimus Black, 2X and 3D, and a number of Galaxy S variants.

As the CM team mentioned in their status update last week, development of CM7 is scheduled to continue beyond version 7.3, even as many devices transition to the ICS-based CyanogenMod 9. New additions to the CM stable in version 7.2 RC2 include the HTC Status (aka ChaCha), HTC Wildfire S, LG Optimus Chic, Motorola Photon and Samsung Galaxy 5.

LG Korea has announced that the company's upcoming international flagship, the Optimus 4X HD, will arrive in select European counries starting next month. The 4X HD, which is powered by a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 CPU and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, will launch in the United Kingdom, Germany, Sweden, Italy and Poland in June.

LG's new baby, which we first saw at MWC, before getting our hands on it again last week at CTIA, also sports a 720p IPS display, an 8MP BSI camera, 2150mAh battery and a re-vamped version of LG's UI skin. There's no word on U.S. availability just yet, but unconfirmed rumors have suggested this thing may arrive on T-Mobile as the "G4X" -- a successor to last year's G2X.

If you were watching Samsung's May 3 presentation closely enough, you might have seen this before -- it's Samsung's (slightly odd, if we're honest) TV spot for the upcoming Galaxy S III, which the manufacturer's uploaded separately for the first time today.  In amongst clips of happy, attractive people jumping around and enjoying their phones, you'll spot a series of broad slogans alluding to some of the major functions of the phone. Apparently the Galaxy S III is the phone that "keeps track of your loved ones," "recognizes who you are," "follows your every move," and "waits until you're asleep."
