Google Play gift cards are now available in India

Starting today, you can walk into select Vijay Sales and Spice Hotspot stores in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata & Jaipur to purchase the vouchers. The current denominations include ₹500 ($7.85), ₹1,000 ($15.7) and ₹1,500 ($23.54).

Buying the prepaid vouchers nets you a redemption code, which you can use to purchase digital content on the Play Store. Low credit and debit card penetration has been one of the major drawbacks to getting paid digital content off the ground in India, and Google's decision to launch gift cards that customers can buy with cash will make it easier for those looking to consume content but don't have access to a payment card.
