Fossil teases upcoming Android Wear smartwatch, launching this holiday season

Fossil has teased a new smartwatch powering Android Wear. The company, best known for its rather luxurious products, showed off three upcoming products that will be released as part of the Fossil Q family. The new wearables will include a connected bracelet, connected watch (with no display), as well as the Android Wear smartwatch.

Usual "smart" features were highlighted, such as a companion app for each connected device, as well as tracking functionality, notification management and more. Fossil is attempting to market the smartwatch as a fashionable accessory with a connected timepiece, much like Apple with its own Apple Watch. Other than that, we know little about the Android Wear-powered watch itself.

While we'll be sure to keep you all in the loop with the launch of these new Fossil wearables, the company does have the option to register your interest, should you be holding out to purchase one.

  • I think it's just a normal mechanical watch that will interface w/ your smartphone through an app. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Great sign for the progression of wearable technology. I believe that the entrance of watchmakers on to the wearable scene will really galvanise and help to leverage pricing of the fast developing market. Enter Fossil. TISSOT has a few offerings as well. Currently it is a market held by sports brands such as Nike and phone accessories companies like Jawbone. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I'm surprised that Casio hadn't gotten into the market yet. Fossil might do it for me, but if Citizen came out with one...

  • I like Fossil watch bands for my LGWR. Really good quality, especially like their silicon ones. Would def be interested in an smartwatch by them. Posted via the GS6 Active, aka GS6 M.E. (Manly Edition)
  • I always considered Fossil to be "outlet mall watches" instead of "luxurious". I actually own 2 (give to me as gifts) which I never wear.
  • They're more of a mid-range sort of watch. Hopefully it will be similar to the Moto 360, with a better screen. Also, with the daily charging required for most smart watches, wouldn't a removable battery be a great addition? Posted via the Android Central App
  • The first sentence should say "smartwatch powered by Android Wear."
