It looks like what we once knew as the Samsung Galaxy Spica will actually be released as the Samsung Galaxy Portal in the UK. T-Mobile UK will be the lucky ones to carry this middling Android device and per usual in the UK, it's available for FREE with certain rate plans.

Maybe the T-Mobile G2 Touch aka HTC Hero wasn't delayed after all. After rumors of a delayed August release date, it looks like T-Mobile UK will be able to push out the T-Mobile G2 Touch by the end of July.

According to T-Mobile UK’s Twitter account, the T-Mobile G2 Touch will be available online starting today and in their brick and mortar stores over the next few days. This makes for great news for our UK Android users!

We've been expecting a July launch for the G2 Touch aka HTC Hero ever since it's been announced but it looks like we'll have to push back our expectations by about a month. Eek. There are reports floating around that T-Mobile UK might be forced to merge with another carrier or sell itself away. During their latest financial reports, Deutsche Telekom CFO Timotheus Hoettges stated:

"The British market is highly competitive and has comparably low margins, in our view consolidation is a means to take excess capabilities out of the market. Nothing is unthinkable on our side."
