Partnering with Lava Mobiles, Google has launched the second-generation Android One smartphone in India, the Lava Pixel V1. The handset will be available exclusively on Flipkart, with brick and mortar availability coming at a later date.

As revealed yesterday, the Pixel V1 offers a 5.5-inch 720p display, 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 SoC, 2GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, microSD slot, 8MP camera at the back, 5MP front shooter, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 2,650mAh battery along with gold and white-silver color variants.

The phone comes with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box, and will receive updates directly from Google over the next two years. One notable omission is 4G connectivity, which will potentially hamper sales of the handset in India given the sheer number of 4G-enabled phones available in this segment.
