Samsung Admire

We've seen a sneak peek of the Samsung Admire on MetroPCS, and now it's officially coming to regional carrier Cellular South. The Admire looks to be a pretty basic entry-level phone, with a 3.5-inch touchscreen at HVGA resolution. That's 320x480, which is what we consider to be the bare minimum these days, and not something we'd really recommend.

Official specs are a bit scarce, but it'll be running Android 2.3 and have a 3.2MP rear camera. The usual connectivity options (Wifi, Bluetooth, etc.) are on board, but you'll be on your own to supply a microSD card.

No word yet on pricing or availability. We've got more pics after the break.

Cellular South getting the Samsung Admire

looks a lot like the optimus to me... which isnt bad because the optimus is a great midlevel android phone. If rooting is as easy as the optimus S/V i see it becoming very popular. The Optimus S and V have a growing dev community that should be able to tackle this as well :)

Was going to say the same thing, looks like a slightly slicker Optimus. Does Cellular have one of those already? If not, I can see this doing for (relatively speaking), if the Optimus is already there, the market for this type of phone may have been snapped up already.

I may get this for my wife when our phones are eligible for an upgrade. I'll probably pick up the Merge (whenever it's available) or the Showcase.
