Nexus 7s

Return to stock or update to the latest version on your Nexus 7

Along with the Nexus 4, all versions of the Nexus 7 have also received Android 4.4 factory images. Even though the OTA update to KitKat hasn't come to the Nexus 7 variants that have mobile data, all four variants of the smaller Nexus tablet have factory images available.

If you're willing to put a little time into it you can use these to update your own tablet, or just download and have them at the ready should you ever need to return to stock.

Android 4.4 factory images for all Nexus 7s now available, too

I just want to sideload now, ota is taking way too long, I only trust off of googles servers and now this crap

if ota is taking too long how is this going to be easy? ota is small file and this is huge. and ota comes from google server just like this

Looks like this update is going to be pulled if people are getting the dreaded 404 code. My N7 still says it's up to date.

I am new to Android and I have a Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi (have not rooted or changed it in any way.) How long does it usually take to get the update. Mine keeps telling me It is up to date and its on 4.3 JB?

Expect to see it in about a week's time after it begins rolling out. Google trickles it out to a small set of people, then releases it to everyone else, usually.

Has anyone gotten the OTA or know of someone who has?

I got tired of waiting and ran the updates manually this weekend.

Updated my Wifi N7 using sideload and my N4 using fastboot. Didn't have any problems. Both running 4.4 with new Google Search and Experience Launcher

I wouldn't rush if I was you. I've got the nexus 5 and whilst the phone is excellent I can't say the same about KitKat. The translucent bars are OK but that's about it. Its broke my SMS programme so I have to use hangouts, its broke Yahoo's e-mail programme and as for OK Google it works a few times and then just stops. You need to restart to get it to work again. The new bigger app logos look horrible way too much like iOS 7 and Google now is OK but for me anyway, very limited in the cards that are useful. I'm definitely not in a rush to put it on my nexus 7 2013. Given that we were expecting a major release KitKat just feels like another minor maintenance release.

It was supposed to be Key Lime Pie aka android 5. All we got was a bump to android 4.4

still haven't got the update as of Nov 15. 11 am mountain

I am of the belief that google botched this rollout Kitkat...It sounds like there are so many issues and unhappy people from the nexus 5 crowd all the way to the nexus owners. Its too bad at this stage in the game neither apple or google can successfully roll out a product without the hassle and BS that comes from owning a product of theirs. Id rather wait to have an update tried and true before it reaches the masses. As for google...try and roll out the software in one big swing instead of this jerk off wait i have to do while i sit beside a friend and he has the update yet bought his nexus 7 6 months after me..

that's my rant for today...this week has for the first time made me think of jumping away from the nexus brand....we shall see what the future holds

I just wish Google would release the 4.4 Update to the Nexus 7 (2012) OTA, I'm apparently up to date yet still on 4.3, don't want to have to mess around with backing up, wiping and updating via the factory image.

But yet again it seems that Google are screwing over UK users by doing a staged rollout.
