Galaxy Wearables app gets with the times, snagging a new look, but kicks old device support

Samsung is reportedly getting its app in order for its grand One UI 8.5 reveal, and its latest efforts are showing up for wearables.

A report from SamMobile states that Samsung is starting to roll out an update for the Galaxy Wearable app that will excite users in two ways. The company's short changelog mentions that this update brings its One UI 8.5 user interface improvements. More importantly, the patch notes state that Samsung is also adding support for the Galaxy Buds 4 and 4 Pro.

There's been speculation that these new buds will be announced during Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked next week, and this furthers those suspicions.

Samsung continues, delivering a brutal reckoning to users with older Galaxy devices: the Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Fit e will no longer be supported in this update. It looks like users in other regions, such as the U.S., will have to wait a little longer before this update hits their Galaxy devices. SamMobile states that this patch was highlighted on the South Korean Samsung Community forums, from a user with a Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Getting things ready

Samsung's mention of support for the Galaxy Buds 4 and 4 Pro is the biggest aspect of this report. We've been wrapped in rumors about these buds more and more over the past few months, and the latest was all about their (alleged) design. The Buds 4 and 4 Pro are seemingly in for a redesign that removes that pointed, triangular stem design from the 3 Pro. The 4 Pro's stem is rounded, which sort of matches with its even rounder/softer corners for the Galaxy S26 series.

The Buds 4 are rumored to keep the silicone eartip away, so we'll have to see how users feel about that moving forward.

Samsung confirmed that its Galaxy Unpacked event for the next wave is set for February 25, 2026 at 1 pm ET/10 am PT in San Francisco, California. More than that, the company's reserve program for the Galaxy S26 series is underway, and Android Central's Patrick Farmer already secured himself at least $900 off the next big flagship.

This is all excitement by this point, you know? Samsung's continuing to push ahead with its software, which is expected to fuel its next big products early in 2026. All that I'm looking forward to know, for this particular rumor, is what the Galaxy Buds 4 and 4 Pro deliver sound-wise. The recent series, especially the 3 Pro, boast incredible sound that's deep and detailed. Hopefully, Samsung can keep that up with its next series or even bump up the bass.
