I gave my Meta smart glasses a nose and now they last all day long

BoboVR makes the most popular accessories for Meta Quest headsets, so it's only natural to see the company evolving its product lines and branching out to Meta's latest obsession: smart glasses.

Charging Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta smart glasses can be a bit tricky, especially when you're on the go, as all of Meta's smart glasses use their own type of charging case. That means if you have more than one pair, you've got to carry around more than one charging case just to keep them all going throughout the day. The BoboVR CG2 is here to fix that problem.

Keep your Ray-Ban Meta or Oakley Meta smart glasses charged at home, on the go, or in your pocket with the BoboVR CG2 modular battery system.

Not only that, but this nose piece battery conveniently pops onto the charging stand at home, so you can separately charge the glasses and the portable battery for the next time you plan to head out of the house.

The BoboVR CG2's nose battery connects to the charging prongs on Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1, Gen 2, and Oakley Meta HSTN smart glasses and can fully charge the glasses' battery, so you can either charge it separately or with the glasses connected to the external battery.

What problems does this solve?

All five of Meta's smart glasses models charge differently. Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1, Gen 2, and Oakley Meta HSTN all charge via similar prongs in the nose bridge, which is why the BoboVR CG2 fits all three of these pairs. Meta Ray-Ban Display and Oakley Meta Vanguard charge differently and are not compatible.

You or someone in your household likely has one of the three compatible pairs of glasses, and it's convenient to have a charger that fits all three on the go. For example, I have a pair of Ray-Ban Metas with transition lenses and a pair of Oakley Meta HSTN with polarized Prizm lenses. These glasses both use different charging cases normally, but with the BoboVR CG2, I can take a single charger along with me and have both pairs without worrying about battery life.

Being able to charge without having them in a bulky case is a huge plus for the BoboVR CG2. It also makes docking the glasses at home easier since the battery pack fits into the dock to keep the glasses and the battery charged at the same time.

What this charger won't do for you

You won't be able to charge the glasses while comfortably wearing them because the nose bridge will be blocked. There are some alternative chargers that connect via a wire to the nose bridge and allow you to wear and charge at the same time, but these often add extra weight or bulk to an already heavy pair.

The CG2 is the best alternative I've seen yet to other chargers, as it lets you easily charge it on the go as needed no matter which of the three compatible Meta smart glasses you own. It's a full replacement for the included case and can be used as an additional battery if you need it.
