T-Mobile finally rolling out Lollipop 5.0.1 to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Reports are filling our inbox that T-Mobile US is rolling out the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update to owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Now's a good time for us to urge T-Mobile subscribers to check for updates on their Note 4.

Today's rollout by T-Mobile bumps the firmware version up to N910TUVU1COD6, and follows other US carriers (including the likes of Verzion) who have already released Lollipop to lucky Galaxy Note 4 owners.

Having trouble spotting the OTA update notification? Give Samsung Kies a try. We have yet to confirm reports flowing in with our own devices, but do let us know on our community forum if you've received the update.

  • Why preorder the Note 5 when you can the Note 8 for just 25% more of the cost?
  • You should see the discount I got on my Note 2 which I ordered last night. They even deliver it with a totally free 2GB micro-sd card (yes, you read it right!) and matching-color earbuds! Piepke
  • Lol 2 gigs ain't sh!t, sorry 2 rain on ur parade. I had the s3 returned 2 insurance 3x every time it came with 2gig sd Posted via the Android Central App

  • I hope it improves the LTE connection. I'm in Cloverdale for a SAR seminar and while my Note 3 on KK has LTE, my Note Pro 12.2 LTE has LTE, note 4 is stuck on the dreaded E.

  • My Verizon version is pretty stable, smoother, aesthetically appealing and has good battery life. Posted via the Android Central App
  • So with that network you will finish downloading in mid June Sent via carrier duck. They were out of pigeons
  • Still faster than Sprint. Sprint you'll be finished by christmas
  • Sprint will be gone soon indeed Posted via the Android Central App
  • Speaking of Sprint, they released Lollipop on Note 4 March 5th. Welcome to almost 2 months ago Magentas. Feeling a little slow?
  • Yes OTA's of 1 specific phone is totally representative of how good a Network is.
VZW is totally the worst network by that logic.
  • My Sprint Note 4 OTA finished way before Christmas. Almost 2 months ago to be precise.
  • yeah on Wi-Fi
  • LMFAO! Posted via the Android Central App
  • And there were lot's of problems with Sprint phones when Lollipop came out for them in mid June, but of course Sprint users are fine with that considering they are on the half service coverage network.
  • Mid June? What? Whatever Lollipop problems exist, you have them too. By the way, how's T-Mobile messaging working for you? Big known t-mobile problem.
  • Considering I have a factory unlocked Note 4 and I use Cricket I don't know of any problem. Messages, calls and data all works. Enjoy your half service coverage network. Posted on the fast Samsung Galaxy Note 4 runni g Lollipop 5.0.1

  • http://i.imgur.com/UQdGVWZ.jpg Strange.. I don't seem to have any T-Mobile network problems? *Disclaimer* I'm 30-40 minutes outside a major city....*
  • You mean that 27mbps down is slow? Man! I should change services then. Posted via the Android Central App
  • If ur taking shots at Tmo, I'll tell u I get over 50mbps on lte. It's faster than my homes broadband Posted via the Android Central App
  • I hope the update goes smoothly
  • Sound or mute mode?
  • Verizon version has mute like normal. Posted via the Android Central App
  • My note 4 on tmobile has mute Posted via the Android Central App
  • that works fine
  • Downloading now. Gonna wipe my device afterwards to make sure I get rid of any possible leftover cruft. Long live the Note 4!
  • If more people wiped their devices after installing Lollipop, I don't think there would be as many issues. The version of ART in Lollipop is different from the experimental ART runtime in Kitkat - I'd be willing to be that accounts for many of the problems.
  • Most likely. I did my research a while back when the other Note 4's were getting Lollipop and wiping is definitely the way to go. If that's what it takes for me to have a smooth experience, then so be it.
  • There wouldnt be NEARLY as many issues. Not even close. Just people upset because they had to set up their phone all over again or didn't back-up their photos/videos and accidentally erased everything. Posted via the Note 4 or Tab S 10.5
  • Yes indeed, long live the note4 Posted via the Android Central App
  • Hi Ryan - question for you. You said you were going to wipe your device after the update. I'm sorry if this sounds stupid but wouldn't that revert it to factory settings, including back to kitkat?? I didn't reset my phone but wiped my cache partition. It works fine but I'm wondering if I should reset it..thoughts??
  • Still nothing in UK. I'm not that fussed, but it's getting a bit silly now! Posted via the Android Central App
  • Don't you guys get updates straight from Samsung?
Pretty sure the UK variant should have been one of the very first few to get the update.
  • You would have thought so! Got two in our house, one direct from Samsung which I got first week of release, and another on the 3 network and neither have them. Not sure what's going on. Posted via the Android Central App
  • The nordic version just got it on Friday. Really slow by Samsung. Posted via the Android Central App
  • It took me about 40 minutes to install and about another 40 minutes to update and make sure everything was working fine. So far, so good. No issues to complain about.
  • Are you going to do a hard reset? I didn't need to do one on my S5. Not sure if I will do it on my Note 4.
  • Typically, I would do a hard reset but I don't think I will this go round. If, I notice any issues with the battery I will do a hard reset.
  • Seems like it is running smooth on mine as well. Like the layout and looks like it has better ram management. Posted on the fast Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
  • You really should. KK to LP is a huge OS update. You won't regret it if you Hard reset, but running into even the slightest issue will make you wonder if it would've have happened had you reset the phone. Posted via the Note 4 or Tab S 10.5
  • Downloading now via Samsung Kies. Big update.
  • I'm assuming Samsung Kies is some sort of an updater tool? Posted via the Android Central App
  • Basically yes. It's their software suite that some phones require to update. But now a days it just gives you the option to install that way or ota Posted via the Android Central App
  • It is the Samsung equivalent to iTunes minus the store integration. It handles updates, syncing, back up/restore of device settings, apps and information, and file management.
  • What are u guys talking about with Sprint? Lollipop has been out for like 2 months or something. I'm on alliance rom with AEL v5 kernel which is amazing. Get real, thinking ur note 4 with tmo is the only cock on the block.
  • For whatever reason my LTE connection improved dramatically after the Lollipop update. This is super. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Mine has as well! Posted via the Android Central App
  • Downloading mine now. Hooray!!
  • Nothin' for the Note Edge, tho... T-Mobile's software update website still shows the Note 4 release in "T-Mobile Testing" Guess they're not on the ball...
  • Have hope in Orlando on the Note Edge International with T-Mobile I'm installing the update now. (Not rooted)
  • Downloading mines now. Looks like it's going to take about an half hour. Brought to you by the Fantastic Note 4
  • Be careful, it can be explosive
  • Sticking with KK for a month or two. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Mine is downloading now. It's going pretty fast on home WiFi :P. @ Allentown, Pennsylvania.
  • downloading now! it's a shame though, since I'm getting my GS6 edge on Saturday, lol.. Powered by a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 & Galaxy Tab 8.0 via the Android Central App
  • So in other words you're downgrading! Posted via the Android Central App
  • Maybe to you, but not for my needs/uses. Posted via the Android Central App
  • downloading my update now! very cool.
  • Got mine installed and running about an hour ago. So far liking the new look. Just interested on how my battery life will be now.
  • I just got the update and thank god they fixed the volume controls. I'd read that Lollipop restricted you to changing the volume of whatever audio you were on, but in the TMo version, you can still tap the gear icon to get access to all of the various volume controls.
  • Downloading the update now Posted via the Android Central App
  • FINALLY!!! Downloading now too - thank God T-Mobile (or just the Note 4 in general?) allows you to use mobile data for the task.
  • Mine is downloading now! Hope it don't screw up no Note 4. Am looking for some great improvements. We shall see
  • Mine installed this morning! As I write this, it is still updating the apps that need to be updated to support Lollipop. I'll be kicking the tires of Lollipop a lot harder in the next hour or so! Hopefully, Samsung has been slow bringing this update to the Note 4, in order to give us an outstanding experience. I am wondering if I should stay with Samsung for my next phone, a year or two from now. I have never been impressed with the speed which the put out updates.
  • It wasn't Samsung that slowed it down. It was T-Mobile. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Too bad TouchWiz will cover up the good stuff. Get rid of it Samsung. Posted via My Note 4
  • Sounds like a lot of you are getting the update quickly. My wife had a Note 4 I'll tell her to go look for it Posted via the Android Central App
  • Didn't get it over the air. Downloaded througb Samsung Kies. Took around 30-40 minutes and that is with a fast internet connection. It looks nice though. Haven't had a problem. Posted on the fast Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
  • Love the new look of the s6 edge, should have been the only design variant for the phone period. With that said i still dont want it. Once I brought the note I realized I'll want no other phone unless it's the note 5, 6, 7, 8 etc. Just hope Samsung doesn't alienate the SD card like they did with the s6
  • I've always had the Galaxy S line of phones, but decided to give the Note 4 a try. The Note 4 is a great phone, it's just not for me. I'm glad there are so many choices though, so that everyone can find what works best for them. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Getting a Google Play Services error after the update and now my apps won't update. They'll just perpetually say "Downloading..." The error says "An application requires an update for Google Play Services" and gives me the triangle/exclamation point in my notification bar. Can someone tell me how to resolve this please? Edit: it seemed to resolve itself..huh Sent from my Phabulous Note 4
  • I had to clear data on play store and that fixed it for me. Posted via the Android Central App
  • It needed to auto-update the play store app Posted via the Note 4 or Tab S 10.5
  • You can either clear the data for the app or uninstall or then re-install the app.
  • Just touch the notification and wait a moment and eventually you'll see the update button
  • Now what will people complain about ?
  • "Why isn't the update to 5.1.1?"
  • That is a valid question tho Posted via the Android Central App
  • Just in time to be out of date! Haha Posted via my Nexus 6
  • Updated this morning. Running Nova Launcher rather than Touchwiz, so it doesn't "look" any different really. Some differences in settings around notifications. Noticeably faster than before. Posted via the Android Central App
  • App opening is actually gonna feel a bit slower using nova launcher, since the default "Slide up" transition animation is a bit too slow on nova. If you want it to feel insanely fast then change the app opening animation to "zoom" in nova settings. Posted via the Note 4 or Tab S 10.5
  • 25 minutes to download for me on 4GLTE Posted via the Android Central App
  • The main reason why I traded in my Note 4 for Galaxy S6 was because of how long it was taking for T-Mobile to push out the Lollipop update. I also got tired off carrying a big phone around.
  • Going from the S series to the note line I can relate on the phone being big. I have a belt clip for it and it kinda looks absurd on my waist. I take the good w the bad tho, and the note has to many +'s going 4 it Posted via the Android Central App
  • I downloaded the update this morning. Haven't had any issues with it yet. Haven't noticed any changes that at amazing either. Posted via the Android Central App
  • finally Posted via Note 4
  • Downloaded it about 5 hours ago, so far so good...and it's very snappy and fast. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Just updated to Lollipop on the T-Mobile Note 4. Everything works flawlessly. In addition things are much more faster for example like opening up camera and switching between gallery and cam. Navigating through different apps are more smooth and robust. I don't notice any battery drain and is comparable to if not better to the kit kat 4.4.4. Update OTA was not a problem either. So far this seems as the best OS ive used.
  • I wonder if that means the Edge is on its way. I really don't feel like I'm having a "premium" experience.
  • I clicked search for update in Orlando and started downloading mine. (Note Edge International edition ordered from Amazon)
  • 4.4.4 kitkat was better
  • Lol Your crazy Posted via My Note 4
  • Lollipop makes this phone so fast and I like that I can use my mi fit as a trusted device to unlock my phone.

  • Oooh, I'm tasting lollipop as I type lol. I'm disappointed the recent apps button still lags like a mofo. I immediately booted recovery mode or whatever it's called and did a cache wipe bc of ppl recommending doing that. I'm happy 2 finally get it! Posted via the Android Central App
  • My wife's received hers via OTA after the first attempt Posted via the Android Central App
  • Is anybody having battery issue after this update? Ive factory reset it and its still draining super fast.
  • "Still" U must've gotten a lemon bc the notes battery is unparalleled Posted via the Android Central App
  • Yes thanks G-luv, you too! Oh and I found the name...It's called "goStrap". I use it on both my e-reader and my phone. It definitely has stopped the dropping problem but probably just as importantly, it has given me back the use of my hand!!! They have a website but you can also get them at The Container Store. Hope this helps and best of luck!
  • I don't like what they did with tabs in chrome! I reverted back 2 the way it was. The recent tabs button has 2 much lag 2 deal with, it might work well on other phones but not the note, speaking 4 myself Posted via the Android Central App
  • Disable the "talkback" service in the application manager under "all apps." it'll make the recent apps button and app switching more responsive overall Posted via the Note 4 or Tab S 10.5
  • Thx about 2 do that right now Posted via the Android Central App
  • Talk back is what daredevil must have been using if u watched it on netflix Posted via the Android Central App
  • Yeah this is my 3rd reply 2u, my bad, just letting u know that disabling talk back did make the recent tabs butting more responsive so thx...now my concern is battery life, it seems after the update it's draining faster Posted via the Android Central App
  • So far doing well with no wipe after installing...... Posted via the Android Central App
  • If it ain't 5.1 we don't want it!
  • I downloaded it yesterday. I did not wipe my Note 4. After update i clear system cache from recovery. So far no problem. Time will tell. Overall phone works much faster. Battery life seems the same or better. During update phone become very hot. Its normal. Do not wipe, try to clear system cache first.
  • How do you clear the system cache from recovery?
  • Power off phone. At same time press volume up+home button +power button. Wait until you see blue text on top left corner - something like system recovery. I don't remember exactly. Release power button, keep holding other two. First there will be green android with sign "system update" . Later recovery menu appear. Release buttons. Find wipe system cache, do it 3 times. Rebot phone from recovery.
  • Thank you for your help! Sent from my N4
  • What's anyone's feedback on battery life after the update? I'm not sure if my minds playing tricks on me or what but it seems the battery is draining faster Posted via the Android Central App
  • it is for me...
  • I got the OTA update last night,... it's OK but Battery is draining at a higher rate... I hope it settles out as I was spoiled by long lasting Note 4 battery life.
  • Everything is running like butter.. And battery improved... I did a reset from the start.. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Just checked my Note 4 (T-Mobile in U.S.) and I'm downloading the update now.
  • Updated to 5.0.1 on my Note 4 with Three (UK carrier). My daughter also updated her Note 4. No issues withe install, much faster and better battery life. Disappointed with the lock screen notifications fiasco but very happy otherwise. Speed tested before and after using the usual apps and much faster now. Hope next Samsung update gives us the Camera 2.0 API ...
  • Ok, so basically you have no additional information then what the title says??? Just that its out now???? maybe you could actually do some work and let us know the differences between 5.0 and 5.0.1......thanks for wasting my time.
