These Xiaomi 18 Pro Max leaks make me think the brand wants to go all-in this year
Xiaomi's next Pro Max finds itself wrapped in some intriguing rumors.
What you need to know
- Xiaomi 18 Pro Max rumors suggest the phone could sport key upgrades over the 17 Pro Max, such as 200MP main and telephoto lenses.

Another round of Xiaomi 18 leaks talks about the series' top version, the 18 Pro Max, and the upgrades it could deliver.
The rumors that have surfaced early this week arrive days after the series' base model was highlighted. Frequent tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) posted several upgrades the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could feature once it debuts later this year (via Gizmochina). The tipster alleges the Chinese brand will equip the phone with a 200MP LOFIC sensor camera, alongside a 200MP telephoto macro lens.
On the flip side, rumors suggest Xiaomi is working on some screen changes. It's unclear how these differ from what we've received with the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. DCS claims the phone will sport "thinner" bezels and "large, rounded corners." The 17 Pro Max was already a phone with rounded corners. This could mean Xiaomi is trying to make those corners feel more comfortable to hold with one hand.
We'll have to wait for more on that one. Elsewhere, the 18 Pro Max is rumored to feature a battery upgrade. The device could offer a battery of ~8,000mAh or higher. Xiaomi might also pair this with 100W wired charging and wireless charging of an unspecified strength. The 17 Pro Max offered similar wired charging capabilities with 50W wireless charging, so we might see this once again.
Show up and show out
If we take a step back, the 17 Pro Max offered a 50MP main camera and a 5x periscope lens. While the device features the Dynamic Back Display, which was so popular for Xiaomi that it said it would "do it again," it looks like photography is a sector it wants to make better. Additionally, the phone offered a 7,500mAh battery. Given the rumors, that might jump by ~500mAh or more with this new version.
That Dynamic Back Display found its way into recent online rumors. Some say Xiaomi is looking to increase its size to 4 inches over the 2.1-inch display on the 17 Pro and Pro Max. More importantly, the screen could rock "higher brightness" and potentially "privacy protection," which sounds like what Samsung did for the Galaxy S26 Ultra (though there's nothing for certain).
The base Xiaomi 18 could get some TLC this year, too. The company might increase its battery by ~200mAh to ~7,200mAh. Overseas consumers should take these battery numbers with a grain of salt. Not because they're rumors, but because Xiaomi tweaks these numbers for global markets. We might see numbers lower than what's been proposed for the 18 Pro Max, just like we did for the 17 Pro Max.

Android Central's Take
I feel like Xiaomi wants to make the title "Pro Max" mean something. These upgrades also sound like a company that's trying to go all-in and make sure it's next iteration makes waves, not a splash. We're still early, and while the series is expected to rock Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, there's still a lot that's unknown. I'm expecting the series to debut later this year, so maybe we'll know more once (if) the company ramps up its teasers.
