Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold vs. Pixel 10 Pro Fold: Is it time to upgrade?

Last year's Pixel 10 Pro Fold didn't really have many new features; other than better water resistance, Tensor G5, and a bigger battery, it was identical to the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. With other brands rolling out noticeable upgrades — Samsung outdid itself with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 — the Pixel 10 Pro Fold felt like a tame release.

That's why I'm excited to see what Google has in store with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The foldable finally gets a new main camera — a long-overdue upgrade — alongside the Tensor G6 platform built on a 2nm node, brighter OLED panels inside and out, and design tweaks.

Google introduced the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at its annual Made by Google event in New York on August 12, with the foldable going on sale in the coming weeks. The foldable costs $1,899, a $100 increase from last year, which is similar to what Samsung did with its latest foldables.

There are decent Pixel 11 Pro Fold pre-order deals, and if you've made up your mind about getting the foldable, I'd suggest doing so while it's on pre-order and save some cash.

Google tweaked the design of the Pixel 11 Pro Fold a little bit to make the rear camera island a little more distinctive, but other than that, the device looks pretty similar to its predecessor. This is a good thing; Google has a distinct design aesthetic, and that isn't changing in 2026.

What is immediately noticeable is the weight; the Pixel 11 Pro Fold comes in at 238g, a full 19g lighter than its predecessor. While it's still quite heavy — the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is 23g lighter at 215g while having a bigger 5,000mAh battery — this is decent progress from Google, and it makes using the 11 Pro Fold that much easier.

The Pixel 10 Pro Fold still has one of the best OLED panels on any foldable, and while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold doesn't change the size of the panels, it gets a little brighter. That's a positive move, and I like that Google isn't changing the size; the inner 8.0-inch panel is the ideal size to multitask, and the outer 6.5-inch panel has adequate real estate. The inner screen crease isn't quite as visible either, but this is something I'll need to test extensively.

The headlining change with the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the Tensor G6 platform. Google's phones haven't really stood up to their Qualcomm and MediaTek rivals in the past, but that is changing in 2026. I'm not going to suggest that the Tensor G6 will be as fast as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, but it shouldn't be as hobbled as the G5 and G4, and that in itself is exciting.

But just as Google rolled out upgrades, it took something away. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a 4,750mAh battery, which is smaller than the 5,015mAh in its predecessor. It may just be that Google is able to deliver the same amount of battery life thanks to the efficiency of the G6, so it decided it didn't need to put as big a battery.

The other big change is around cameras; the Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a new 48MP main camera with much better light intake, and this fixes one of the main problems of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold: low-light photos. That said, the wide-angle and telephoto lenses are unchanged, and I don't think Google did enough to make the Pixel 11 Pro Fold's cameras stand out against the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Find N6, and the Vivo X Fold 5.

In standard Google fashion, the brand is rolling out plenty of new software-focused features to make its cameras stand out, and Magic Capture looks interesting. The feature makes taking photos of fast-moving objects a lot easier, so if you have kids, it is bound to come in handy.

With the Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Google delivered a thinner and lighter foldable with better cameras. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold brings decent upgrades too, but it has a smaller battery, and I'll have to test the foldable to see how it holds up in this area.

In spite of the average cameras and the weight, I enjoyed using the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The software is a real joy, and Android 17 made the foldable even better. If you don't need the best cameras and are okay with a heavier foldable, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is a great choice — and you don't have to pay anywhere as much.
