Orange in France accidentally leaks out HTC One A9 renders

Orange in France has accidentally leaked out some renders of the upcoming HTC One A9. The smartphone has yet to be announced by the Taiwanese manufacturer, but that hasn't halted the rumor mill and previous leaks from spilling almost all the beans on this mid-range smartphone.

The local carrier released renders for the two color variants Orange will be stocking – black and silver. Everything matches previous HTC One A9 leaks.

MORE - Don't dismiss HTC's A9 as 'mid-range' — that's the whole point

We shan't have to wait long with HTC's event just around the corner. Android Central will be attending on October 20, so be sure to remain tuned to our feeds!

  • Nice. An iPhone with a Samsung button. Love it! Posted via the Android Central App
  • Ya, I don't get why they have a button that looks like it's from a Samsung... Becoming vary disappointed in them.
  • Doesn't look that great. Doesn't even have the dual speakers htc fans are proud of Posted via the Android Central App
  • Not an attractive phone. But I guess it's what's inside that counts. Posted via the Android Central App
  • What's inside isn't going to help HTC sell phones. Posted from my Nexus 6/Nexus 7 2013/Surface Pro 3
  • Getting Scott Croyle back from Nextbit would make a difference.... Posted via the Android Central App
  • I'm not sure if that's the case. HTC is at the point where no one cares about them anymore, so any changes they make won't make a difference. They'll still end up folding. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Yeah that's why I'm heartbroken, just love M8 Posted via the Android Central App
  • lol at people who thinks that just high end phones increase the sales.
  • Heartbroken.... l loved the M8, it was the designer zeitgeist smartphone last year.... HTC lost its design mojo then it reappeared as a little bird... Posted via the Android Central App
  • I'm not an HTC fan but it's not far to compare the M series to the A. The A9 is not replacing the M8. The A series is a mid range phone.
  • So is the m8 +++ Insert witty signature, watch as others not get it, profit +++
  • Nah. That phone is awesome. Still have mine and love it. Posted via the Android Central App
  • You don't have a clue what zeitgeist means do you? Pants
  • Just what I always wanted an iPhone running sense :) Posted via the MATERIAL AC App
  • So depressing.... I'm officially framing my M7 as a memoir to the glory days... fading out with sad boom speaker trumpet blasts dreaming of electric sheep
  • I laughed Posted from my Nexus 6/Nexus 7 2013/Surface Pro 3
  • I think HTC should just close their doors. They fail to do anything right and they're no longer relevant. They serve no purpose other than to piss people off with every phone they release. I can't even recall the last HTC article where anyone had something good to say about them. This A9 is already a failure and will be hated as well, based on looks alone. Posted via the Android Central App
  • The fact that a company releasing a product that you don't like makes you this angry is sad. Posted via the Android Central App
  • No, that's hardly the case. I'm repeating the sentiment from a lot of commenters that I've read in every HTC article from the past 2 years including the ones here and other sites using VERY HEAVY satire. I'm not expressing my own personal opinion as of yet about this phone since I don't have enough to go off of. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Interesting... The famed black bar actually becomes a white bar in the white version. It almost seems silly now after seeing this that people (myself included) ripped Sammy for producing an iPhone clone with the s6. All of that needs to be directed towards this device. Truly amazing for a company winning design awards not too long ago. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Holy shit. I don't wanna say anything bad but THOSE BEZELS. Ugh. Here lies the "2016 Flagship Killer". It got slayed by 2015 flagships like the LG G4 being used to post this.
  • MY BAD
  • I saw your original comment on the email. Yeah, I just went "DAFUQ" Here lies the "2016 Flagship Killer". It got slayed by 2015 flagships like the LG G4 being used to post this.
  • Yep, sorry about that, my original comment had nothing to do with you. lol
  • Looks like iPhone design Posted via the Android Central App
  • Not the ugliest phone I've ever seen, but why wouldn't they remove that ugly fingerprint scanner/home button and build the scanner into the HTC logo? Is that genuinely too hard to do? Posted via the Android Central App
  • Should be in the back IMHO
  • When they placed it in the back of the HTC One Max, everyone hated it. They are screwed either way. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I think people hated it mainly because it's a swipe sensor. A touch sensor would have been fine Here lies the "2016 Flagship Killer". It got slayed by 2015 flagships like the LG G4 being used to post this.
  • Also it was too close to the camera. Posted from my Nexus 6/Nexus 7 2013/Surface Pro 3
  • Ah... That's what was not liked the most about it being on the back in addition to having to swipe and smudge the camera. Posted via the Android Central App
  • So I've been waiting for HTC to turn a corner and honestly this device is attractive. Even if they have a cross licensing agreement! This just looks too much like the current iPhone and there is no reason to have all that extra space above and below the screen without the front facing speakers and to have your damn logo front and center as well! That just even takes away even more from the design! I have the m8 which I thought is a great design with some necessary hardware refresh not what the m9 is.
  • And HTC begins to circle the drain before the final inevitability of the flush... Posted via the Android Central App
  • Ha! HTC is already dead. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Why do all these oem's use the iPhone as a starting point in design? I don't wanna use the word "copy" and get all the various fanboys worked up! The iPhone's design is too vanilla for me and I'd never buy a phone that looks too much like one. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Agreed. I've found previous iterations of the iPhone to be beautiful and head and we'll above the competition, but the 6/6s and plusses just scream generic phone. Very uninspired design imo. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Where are the speakers on this thing? Posted via the Android Central App
  • BoomSound is gone. It's not like it helped their sales in the first place of brought significant attention to the brand. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I see Boomsound referenced all the time on pretty much every tech website when they talk about speakers on phones. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Yes the tech writers and online community alike favor BoomSound. It never really seemed to bring enough attention to their brand in the eyes of the uninformed consumer. WE (those who are tech enthusiasts) associate BoomSound as HTC's trademark feature and that's the main thing that separates HTC from the rest. My statement only assumed that if the buying public recognized the same thing and it persuaded to buy an HTC product due mostly to BoomSound, then that feature could be considered a major factor that should not be omitted. Posted via the Android Central App
  • So.... The once leader in design in the industry has now started copying Apple.... That's a little disappointing if you ask me. And I loved my M8 Posted via the Android Central App
  • Just remember, in 2011 HTC sold more smartphones than anyone else. And it's not like their phones since have been bad. As a matter of fact for the most part they have been pretty good. Just shows you how brutally competitive this industry is. Posted via the Android Central App
  • It's because of the bezels, lack of an industry leading camera, their refusal to use stock Android are the reasons that they are irrelevant according to most everyone. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Not necessarily stock Android. Plenty of other OEMs get along just fine with a skinned android. It's just the fact that sense still feels like gingerbread that's killing it. Even touchwiz is miles better than it used to be, it's actually one of the more material skins now, even if it's brightly colored. Aside from a vocal minority who only exists online, sense is widely regarded as a terrible user experience.
  • TouchWiz is still suffering from aggressive RAM management and RAM consumption during runtime. It is a resource hog. Not to mention that the lag and unresponsivenesd is still somewhat present with it (though it's greatly improved from the prior iterations). I'm not seeing how that's an advantage to it vs Sense. Sense suffers very little from those issues and nearly every tech writer had regarded Sense as the most polished Android overlay. I'm not seeing the terrible user experience claim against Sense being nothing more than fanboy trolling, especially from the ones loyal to a certain OEM... Posted via the Android Central App
  • I have an H/K M8 and it doesn't run better than any of the phones Samsung released this year or the note 4. Definitely runs better than the s5 tho. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Being closer to Material Design isn't necessarily a great thing for everyone. I personally can't stand it. Over the last few versions of Android we've gone from bright and bold and fun to flat and muted and boring. If I had a friend whose behavior went from one extreme to the other like that, I would be concerned that he was getting ready to commit suicide. Posted via the Android Central App

  • Well rumored price was around $650. Hell no! Be better getting moto g Posted via Android Central App on 1+1
  • That has got to be a mistake. It's a good enough looking device, but those specs don't merit that price. I think we'll find out that they had put that price up as a placeholder.
  • Another thing to consider is that HTC One Mini 2 (which is pretty close to this) didn't even cost that much. So there's a chance that the price is not accurate. Posted via the Android Central App
  • $650 will probably be the price of the O2, this is a middle range phone.
  • The iPhone runs Sense now? Posted via the Android Central App
  • Perfect for the android fan that doesn't wanna take the full plunge to the Iphone...
  • I really hope this is not what the A9 looks like... Posted via the Android Central App
  • The on screen navigation buttons on top of the logo bar on top of the fingerprint sensor/button is overkill. All that could have been condensed into one row, maybe 2. The excuse for the logo bar was because of the boomsound speakers. What's the excuse now? Posted via the Android Central App
  • I don't know why everybody is up in arms about this device. Most AC readers are more concerned about flagships anyway, unless it's an exceptional mid-range phone. Another thing I don't get: why is HTC the only company that people attack over bezels? The bezels on a lot of other phones are bigger, and no one says anything about those. The S6 bezels are almost the same size as the M9, yet the S6 speaker is trash and no one complains or posts rants. Double standard anyone? Like when we compliment video quality on one phone that actually looks like crap, and beat up HTC over video that is clear and sharp. Take a look at Phill's video tests on YouTube and you will see what I mean. Quite frankly, it does not matter about specifications or performance or battery life. If it's HTC, then it will be dismissed because of the bias. Posted via the Android Central App
  • If the iPhone and the Galaxy S6 had a baby
  • What an ugly looking phone.
Those bezels though on all sides are just ugly looking. It's like they aren't even trying. Looks like an ugly iPhone 3gs Posted via the Android Central App From my Blackberry Priv where I am out of toilet paper
