Google celebrates the Fourth of July with four free months of Google Play Music

Google is currently running a special offer for its subscription Google Play Music service. When you sign up for the service as a new subscriber, you'll be able to get your first four months for free, paying $9.99 after the trial is over.

All you need to do is head over to Google Play (opens in new tab) and sign up for the service. Note that when you sign up for a Google Play Music subscription, you'll also get access to YouTube Red, which offers all existing YouTube content, as well as exclusive videos, without ads.

The offer is only available this weekend to celebrate the Fourth of July, so you'll want to act fast to get that extended trial period.

  • Thank god I don't have to pay $10 as an early subscriber >>>>>>> Posted via the Android Central App
  • 8 right?
  • I gave up my 8 early adopter rate for a 15 family plan that's even more unfair to the musicians.
  • I had to give up my $8 plan because of the Play Music device limit. I'm using Spotify now. I was thinking about signing up for the Play Music family plan but I don't want others to have access to my credit card.
  • Gave up my $8 too, and switched over to Spotify for an even lower rate. Sometimes I still regret it but mostly not. At least they have a better selection for me. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Yeah. Thank god. The horror. Idiot.
  • Self entitled incoming!!
  • For those who don't understand the way subscription services work, one must provide a valid payment method in order to start a free 4 months (evaluation). The option to opt out of the service is available. If you're into it, Google Play Music which includes You Tube Red is, for many reasons, the best media service available.

  • Is Google play Music comparable to Spotify? I'm a paying subscriber to Spotify and I love the fact that I can listen to every album that I want to. Posted via the Android Central App

  • I got it wiped once and they wouldn't do it again.
  • I've had mine wiped 4(?) times now. They really don't care, as it's painless for them. AT&T Galaxy S7 Onyx Black with Unlimited Data

  • Any idea what that wall is? I use it on a few computers and 6 android devices with no problem. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Just make sure to delete the devices from your account you don't have anymore.
  • You're lucky then. I only use it on 3 devices, but all 3 are duplicated many times over (one of those devices, my phone, is on there 5 times all by itself) to reach my max devices allowed at 10 pretty much permanently. Not really sure what Google basis device detection on, but whatever it is...it's incredibly stupid. :D

  • Spotify is more social (Google Play Music is about the least "social" music subscription service of any of them), and more open, and works on and with just about anything. Google Play Music gives you ad free youtube without having to resort to adblockers or whatever people do on mobile to block ads in youtube. It integrates the best with Google Now and Google Search...or really, your Android phone in general (ie: when you search for a tune with voice that's playing on tv...guess what one and only app it gives you easy access to listen to it in, etc). I've gone back and forth, though I'm currently back on Spotify since I own an Amazon Echo. That said, playing your own playlists on the Echo seem to have broken for me recently, drastically reducing the functionality of Spotify integration with Echo, so we'll see which service I end up with next month. Oh, also, Google Play Music takes far more effort to export your library if you want to switch to other services (or import your library for that matter). Again. It's a pretty closed system.
  • Says I already I am not a new subscriber but I never had a subscription. I think it's probably because I did that 1 free month of youtube red when it came out. But I never tried Google Play Music during that month, I did not know that was included if it was. :-/ Posted via the Android Central App
  • Yup, that would be why. Only one free trial per account. Which makes sense I guess. Lol oh well. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Interestingly enough, I had the reduced subscription for like 8 months which lapsed quite some time ago but it allowed me to redeem it... Posted via the Android Central App

  • And in the UK it's 9.99gbp and no YouTube red, so really not worth it when I only pay 4.99 for Spotify... Posted via the Android Central App
