A full four months after it first unveiled the ZenFone 2 at CES, ASUS is ready to bring its new unlocked device to North America. At a launch event in New York City, chairman Jonney Shih gave us a refresher on the latest ZenFone, including its quad-core 2.3GHz Intel processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, all behind a big 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display.
You'll get that full package for just $299 without a contract, which is a pretty great deal, but if you're looking to save some extra money there's also a lower-end model for just $199. That'll drop you to a 1.8GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage (but it keeps the SDcard slot) — still offering plenty for your money. In either case you're looking at a choice of red, black, grey or gold color options for the plastic back. And because its unlocked, you'll have your choice of carriers (sorry, no Verizon or Sprint, though), with all of the appropriate bands inside for North America and beyond.
You'll be able to pick up a ZenFone 2 completely unlocked from a variety of retailers, including Amazon, B&H, Groupon and Newegg in the U.S., and Newegg, NCIX, Canada Computer and Memory Express in Canada. Best of all, the phone will be going on sale tomorrow, May 19th, for anyone who wants one.
