Woody Allen to create his first television series for Amazon Studios

Amazon has signed up famed movie writer and director Woody Allen to create his first television series, which will be shown exclusively on Amazon Prime Instant Video.

Allen will write and direct the half-hour TV series which will debut sometime in 2016, but other than that there's no other information on the show itself, including its title. Indeed, even Allen himself seems to be a tad confused by this deal. In Amazon's press release he is quoted as saying, "I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin."

Today's announcement comes on the heels of Amazon Studios' big night at the Golden Globe Awards, where its Transparent series won for best TV comedy and for best actor in a TV comedy, Jeffrey Tambor. Amazon Studios will let the public check out pilots for several possible new TV series on Thursday, January 15.
