Seidio Surface Extended case for HTC ThunderBolt

So you've got an HTC ThunderBolt extended battery. Can't blame you there. Now you need a case that'll fit it. Enter the Seidio Surface Extended Battery Case for the HTC ThunderBolt. It's redesigned to fit the extended battery, but doesn't mask any of the phone's functionality.

Let's start without even putting the case on. The inside, where it touches the battery cover, is covered in felt, so you won't scratch the cover. You attach the case by starting on the side with the volume rocker, then snapping on the opposite edge. (You remove it in reverse.)

Once the case is on, the sides and rear of the ThunderBolt are completely covered. There are cutouts for the volume rocker, camera, flashes and microUSB port. The exterior of the case is done in soft-touch. It's got just a tad more of a plastic feel than the ThunderBolt's stock cover, but you might not even notice. The case covers the ThunderBolt's metal kickstand, but has its own plastic kickstand to replace it. It's not as elegant as what's on the phone, but it'll get the job done.

The case extends past the front of the phone just a millimeter or so, which should keep the glass from being scratched when left face-down.

The Seidio Surface Extended Battery Case for the HTC ThunderBolt fits the 2750mAh and 3200mAh extended batteries and is available in the Android Central Store for $27.95. We've got more pictures after the break.

ThunderBolt case review: Seidio Surface Extended

Yikes! That thing is HUGE!

HTC has a long way to go with me before I would consider buying one of their phones because of their consistent horrid battery life.

way to thick for me. If I can slip it into my front pocket then I don't want it, but it might be perfect for others.

From the size of it, it might need two kickstands to hold it up. Too thick and bulky looking... its such a shame that the ThunderBolt never got to be the device it was intended to be before the 4G Antenna was put in it.

It doesn't look or feel as safe as the Surface case for the non extended battery. But the thing that makes it worth it is that the kickstand holds the phone either way, so you can watch videos while charging, unlike the stock phone and case.

The kickstand flips out both ways, both to the left and to the right? Sounds magical. Is that really true?

Can you give us a measurement of how thick it is on the back with the case? I want to compare to the PowerSkin that I just bought. The Powerskin is cheaper than an extended battery + case, but it's quite bulky.

Powerskin says it's 0.93 inches thick.

Do NOT buy this case....I have it and it is AWFUL to say the least.....it leaves entirely too much of the phone unprotected...meaning the top(except the corners), same with the bottom, I now have scratches from drops...one of which it popped off....secondly....it covers the stock kickstand, WHY???? That means ALL sounds sound muffled and crappy...not to mention not as loud....get the holster that goes with it alone and get a much better case such as the gel like one that Verizon offers....it offers much more protection, doesn't come off and still fits the holster.

Needless to say, I replaced it and if you for some reason want this one still, you can have mine, its WORTHLESS....

Driven is right actually. The kickstand is strong enough to hold the phone on either side but since it covers the stock kickstand it does muffle sound some. And it definitely doesn't protect the phone much. You will get scratches on it now and if you were to drop the phone directly on the top or bottom, which is unlikely I guess, you would probably kill it.

Can anybody recommend a better case for the Thunderbolt with the extended battery? Maybe even a case/holster combo? Thank you.

I re-read your post in its entirety this time. Once your point was made about the Surface Extended, I moved on to the next post and skipped the part about the Holster and gel case. That'll teach me to read an entire post next time.

Just to clarify, you are recommending the Surface holster with the VZW gel case instead and not the VZW holster. Correct?

I try to be both accurate and thorough....doesn't always happen....typing on a tablet isn't perfect....that is the best case I've found for sure protection wise...my phone gets dropped OFTEN...and zero new marks...the holster fits it well, though it doesn't slide in as quickly as the case made for it....I just move the lil lever a bit without thinking and its perfect....still a one hand operation....just not as fast, but I'll take the better protection and clean sound any day....you can even open the kickstand and jam out while walking to the dentist or wherever you walk to, parking in LA sucks.....hahaha...randomness

The worst part about this case is the fact that the regular Surface holster does not work with it! Need to buy the Surface extended holster *(&^&^%(. WTF were they thinking! Another 30$ just for the Holster :(
