Ugh. According to the leaked schedule, today was supposed to be the first day of the Android 1.5 Cupcake Update roll out. And what do you know? T-Mobile has just announced that they're delaying the release of Android 1.5 once again! That means we'll have to wait another week before we can get our hands on Cupcake.

T-Mobile is saying that they're "finalizing the build this week to ensure optimal functionality and smooth delivery" and that they "expect all G1 customers will have the update by early June". Sigh. Talk about bungling a good thing.

We know a lot of you guys have hotly anticipated Cupcake since the G1's release--try to wait one more week for all of Cupcake's goodness, yeah?

@ trainoperator:

You should cancel and get an iPhone. I hear it is finally getting MMS. And for the ETF, just make the check payable to TeamAmerica.

At this rate, they should just release the HTC Magic and just skip bringing cupcake to the G1. By the time we get it, the Magic will be released the way things are going.

Just releasing Magic won't work. I want my G1 updated since I want a keyboard.

I'd rather have it good than have it now. But their release manager needs to look for a different line of work.

I mean I don't want a buggy as hell update

But at the same time

I WANT MY CUPCAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so excited at work hoping I might get it

Then my hopes and dreams were dashed

This is nothing unusual. Look T-Mobile is great customer service and signal, is great for me, being that I live in Washington. However, it is T-Mobile. Their the last to get anything remotely new on the market. Their phone selection has been just utter garbage til the G1. There were the last cell carrier to get a touchscreen phone, while other have had theirs for 2-3 years. For some reason, they refuse to use any of the other GREAT Nokia smart phones, and add them to their line, instead you get a music player. Besides, cancellation fees are all PRO-RATED now.

How can we compete with the IPhone. When it still has more quality crap. It's doomed to fail, unless they start working more diligently on updates, additions, FLASH, etc...

How hard is it to Jailbreak your G1 and is it true that once you do you cannot purchase apps anymore?

T-mobile is going to loose tons of folks to the iphone with all this crap in regards to the update....my contract is up next month and I have to say that I may go to the dark side and get the iphone instead. Perhaps all this talk about Android 1.5 is a big cloud of smoke....

WE ALL SHOULD EMAIL TMOBILE USA WITH OUR DISSATISFACTION!!! IAM THINKING OF NOT RENEWING. THIS IS NOT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE! THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE OPENED THEIR MOUTH IF THEY KNEW IT WAS NOT READY! WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONES THAT FEEL THIS WAY. I HAVE EMAILED THEM ALREADY.
