R2-D2 Droid 2 edition priced at $249 after rebate; plus, Star Wars app coming

You don't know the half of it! This phone also sends out a special pulses that lulls you into deep deep space sleep and then once you're totally out the phone dials Lucas with your GPS coordinates and unlocks your doors. Then Lucas slips into your home and actually rapes you for the final coup d'état. Oh and on his way out he actually checks your wallet for any cash and leaves you a coupon to see coming soon preview of the new Star Wars, re-re-released in 3D. Not the actual movie, you'll have to pay for that, but a coupon for half off the price of admission to see the preview of the movie. Enjoy!

Thats pretty steep $300+ is kind of a joke to be honest looks like im not switching from my original droid for this

I remember a comic strip a while back where the main character was rambling on about how all his Star Wars action figures were going to be worth something one day, to which his friend replies "But they made 3 billion of them..."

It's not $300+, it's $250 with the rebate. The original Droid had a $100 rebate also which brought it down to $200. I doubt you will see any store ever selling this for $350.

if you really think about it, this time 2 years ago, the Blackberry Storm was $275 after $100 rebate, and most of my stores couldn't keep it in stock for longer than a couple days at a time. if people were willing to shell out $375 up front for a whackberry storm, i'm sure there are more than enough lucas geeks [including my boss who just got the samsung fascinate] who are willing to shell out 350 up front.

I hate that they went over the $199 price point. But I suppose you have to distinguish it from the standard Droid 2. I guess the only other thing to make it worth the bump in price it is the media dock (assuming the original doesn't come with one).

What I ripoff !!!!! Who the hell would want this phone ??? And you have to pay extra just to get it ? Give me a break ! This is a joke right ?

Did you even bother to read the article? You get a good amount of stuff with the phone. With the Droid dock costing like $20+, you aren't paying a lot extra for a customized phone. BTW, you don't put a space between the end of the sentence and the punctuation.

First is this a world phone overclocked? That is deal for what u get. Next I'm running the rom the r2d2 clock widget is retarded, the binoculars app not sure what it does. The live wallpapers suck, wallpapers are so so. As for the App it looks promising

I think this phone is pretty sweet. And considering that it comes with a dock and headphones, $250 sound about right for any intensive Star Wars fans out there.

I still prefer my Incredible, but I'm prry going to check out that app.

I myself am a Star Wars fan. I wouldnt say "Huge" fan , but I do like the movies. With that out of the way, I have to say the phone itself looks like a toy. I am not digging the blue and white. The shouldve done a solid brushed steel or chrome look with blue steel and chrome edges. And made R2's Eye the camera lens. And when you press the search button it says "Help me Google.. you are my only hope!

This or Epic 4g... Epic 4g all day long any one can download wallpapers and sound effects but no front facing camera and 4g speeds that has to come with the hardware Galaxy S FTW!

I'm a huge Star Wars fan and this phone still looks pretty freaking ugly to me... Maybe I'm a bit vain or my sense of style trumps my Star Wars fanboism, but I doubt it. After all, I'm pretty sure I own several SW t-shirts and I have a flipping decal of the Empire logo on my Civic's window. :p
