Oppo External Lens

Photos of a rumored Oppo NFC camera attachment have surfaced over on Weibo. The accessory, fitted to the Oppo Find 7, looks almost identical to Sony's QX series of products. The 10x optical zoom accessory even captures images the same way – through Wi-Fi.

Looking at the photos, the Oppo external lens attachment has its own power supply (physical power button present) and can work independently. It's not known whether or not this product will work with phones from other vendors, but we can't imagine there being any compatibility issues. It'll be a solid investment for those who demand more from their smartphone.

Looking forward to the reviews of this device... Also, I hope this competition is enough to see great things come out of the Sony camp--in regards to the second gen QX Series.

Yeah! How dare they use technology available in every useful smartphone in 2014?

At this point, maybe you should just consider buying an SLR camera?

That just looks ridiculous. As said before, just buy a normal DSLR!

To everyone that's saying DSLR, does your DSLR get updates?

Yes DSLR's get firmware updates periodically.

In the case of pro DSLRs, almost regularly.

So what does the phone actually do as part of the picture taking process?

The lens takes the photo?
Why does it need to be attached to the phone?

duwest says:

You guys are missing the point. No one is buying the smartphone to use this device. They've made the device so the OPPO Find7, and presumably other NFC capable smartphones can take DSLR quality photos without the added expense (or bulk) of another camera.

It does look idiotic though!
