New Star Wars: The Force Awakens virtual reality experience to launch alongside movie

ILMxLab, which is dedicated to virtual reality experiences, will be releasing something special for Star Wars fans before the upcoming launch of The Force Awakens movie. The company will roll out a virtual reality experience designed for Google Cardboard. It's expected that the augmented content, which will launch on both iOS and Android, will tie directly into the opening of The Force Awakens.

The official Star Wars app will be where you'll be able to check out the virtual reality experience in a galaxy far, far away. It's a move that follows Google's own promotion, whereby the company allows users to select which side of the force they'd like to follow and have said choice reflected throughout various services. As an added bonus, Verizon will exclusively offer Star Wars-themed Cardboard units.

Everything will kick off on December 2.
