Android storage spaceAndroid storage space

Ever wonder how much storage space is left on your phone or memory card for applications, pictures, music and video? It's pretty easy to check, actually. From the home screen, press the menu button, Then choose Settings, then Storage. (It might be called SD Card & Phone Storage, or something along those lines.) There you'll see the amount of space remaining on your microSD card (if the phone has one) and internal (or program) storage. You can also format the microSD card from here, but make sure you've saved all your pics and music first.

How much memory is left?

How much internal memory should u leave open so that your phonewont lag. Oh just to bragging I'm rocking the 32gig card LOL!!!!!

32gb card sounds nice to have, but it's just too much money IMO. I'm satisfied with my 16gb card + my 16gb internal memory on my Vibrant! =)

At one point, I had 25MB of internal space left on my Evo, and it never lagged. But I did get tried of not being able to install more apps.

That little android icon stands for USB Debugging. With that enabled you can connect to the sdk and get screenshots.

There is a widget to display internal memory in use so you don't have to go through any menus. Internal phone storage widget in the Market.

widgetsoid is an all around app that can display it as well, along w shortcuts to wifi toggles, or even apps.

I put my "info" widgets embedded into my notifications pulldown to save screen space. so SDcard, Internal, Phone temp, battery level all at the quick pulldown of my screen no matter what screen Im on.

this is a feature built into custom roms, but for those who dont have that, or dont want to go thru the trouble of system editing ur notif, this is an easy solution.

I still have 6.06GB left on my internal storage for apps. Nice! Thank you Motorola for not giving me something like 512MB ROM that I would always have to monitor.

I love Android 101's!
Always finding something new to learn. I have 6.21GB left in internal storage and 13.37 in SD card space.
Can someone please tell me what my total internal storage came with my Droid2? I just want to know how I've been using my phone. Is 6GB's decent available space, or should I start to look at deleting some stuff? Thanks.

6.21GB is more than enough for internal app space. I have a HTC Evo and only have 54.5MB left even with apps2SD! I wish Google would fix this.

same here. along w the same generation of androids as ur EVO, my MotoDroid only came w a paltry 256mb Internal, which leaves me constantly scraping for memory and pushing as much to SD as possible. I envy the phones today w 16GB Internal!!

Yea , +1 here
I've the same problem here
I only have 20.06 MB of free space in my OG MileStone , no matter what i do , I still lose space , even though I'm cleaning every cache i can (Market , YouTube , Google Maps , Browser , ...etc) & removing apps , but no use
Thats the only thing i hate about my OG MileStone , & this why the Atrix is in top of my list (beside its a Motorola , it have a 16 GB of internal storage)

The Droid 2(& Droid X) comes with 8GB of internal storage specifically for apps. You can't put anything else on it unless you are rooted and want to. If you have 6.21GB left that means you have only used 1.79GB so far on the apps you already have & the Android OS itself.

Don't worry about space. You will NEVER have to worry about it. Why this is useful to other people is because other phones like the EVO only come with something like 512MB which is not very much. There is nothing Google is going to be able to do to "fix" that because it was designed that way by HTC. They make nice phones, but always seem to cut corners where it really counts, IMO.

Flash storage space is not "memory" and should not be referred to as such. Title should be:

"Android 101: How much storage space is left?"

Serious post: I am new to the Android world and do understand some of the memory areas, but not sure the details of the Application storage area. Is this specific ROM to the phone (16gInt/8gExt Samsung Captivate)? Or is this an area of the internal SD memory allocated for this storage? If this is the case, is there a way to increase/decrease this amount of memory? Is this a needed process?

Plus, the question before on lagging. Is there a theory on lag from the amount of memory to the card or app storage?

Thanks
