Google Play edition Galaxy S4

Minor update to Android 4.3 now rolling out for GS4 GPe

Along with the Google Play edition HTC One, it now seems the "stock" Android Galaxy S4 (GT-I9505G) is also getting its over-the-air update to build JWR66Y — a slightly newer version of Android 4.3. The bump from the earlier build JWR66V hit Nexus devices a couple of weeks ago, and includes security updates for the latest iteration of Google's OS.

As always, it may take a few days for the update to arrive on everyone's devices, so patience is advised as Google and Samsung open the latest build up to GPe handsets. If you're seeing it on your phone hit the comments and let us know how you're getting on.

How's it working for you. I've been having to turn off and on more often.. Mostly a problem with Wi-Fi. It could be related to other apps thou. I updated them yesterday and I'm hoping the problem doesn't come back.

I'm on this build, but I don't have any issues. Am I doing it wrong?

My N4 on that build doesn't have that issue. My N7 on latest build JSS15Q is a different story. It occasionally reboots randomly.

Its cool that it is getting updates quick but what I really want is my SD card to read/write again.

rampage1979 says:

That seems to be a common problem with SD cards even on other oem's my buddy's LG phone has the same problem and my cousins s3 also. Safest bet is to remove the SD card before you lose any data on it and get the part swapped out.

NoNexus says:

I am guessing it is the card not the phone. Swap those once and see what happens

No its a common problem with the 4.3 update. Called Samsung support and the manager on duty said that the read only SD card support was a feature.

No update here, yet. Is anybody's S4 GPE randomly rebooting? Mine has been doing that for awhile now. It is annoying, but I can put up with it.

No reboots here. I heard something about the battery could cause that. Check to see if you battery is swollen or something like that...

honestly i think the Google Play edition S4 is the best phone you can buy right now. Excellent camera, good battery life, fantastic screen.

Wicket says:

The interesting thing about this is we now have an idea of how long updates will roughly take for the GPE phones.

N_giron85 says:

My HTC One GPE is definitely faster now with the update.. very pleased with it :))

JoeZone says:

Its OK. Nothing to write home about. Looking forward to the nexus give although those gpe look mighty fine just don't have that money to fork over.
