Sure, the Droid Turbo is claimed to last for two days on a single charge, but what if you wanted even more? Chinese handset manufacturer Gionee has the answer in the Marathon M3, a device boasting a 5,000mAh battery which is said to deliver 32.8 days standby time.
With dimensions of 144.5 x 71.45 x 10.4 mm, the Marathon M3 is not as svelte as some of Gionee's other offerings. Under the hood, the specs are what you'd find in a mid-range handset, which include a 5-inch 720p display, 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6582 CPU, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal memory, microSD slot up to 32 GB, 8 MP camera with LED flash, 2 MP front shooter, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity along with USB OTG support. Also included is dual-SIM functionality as well as FM Radio. On the software side of things, the Marathon M3 features Gionee's Amigo 2.0 UI atop Android 4.4 KitKat.
The device is now available in India for Rs. 12,999, which comes out to around $210. While we've seen smartphones with better specs at this price point, Gionee is aiming for the massive battery capacity to be the differentiator. The vendor is intent on gaining a foothold in the Indian and Chinese markets, so it is likely that availability of the Marathon M3 will be limited to these regions.
What do you guys think of the Marathon M3?
