Verizon offers up to 2GB of extra data when you use Android Pay

Verizon customers who use Android Pay are in for a bit of a treat. The carrier is offering up to 2GB of free data when you use Android Pay in stores with your Verizon phone. That data will be available to you for two billing cycles.

From Verizon (opens in new tab):

Starting today, you can enjoy 2 GB of free Verizon data, good for two billing cycles, when using Android Pay. Simply open the app to get started. Tap anywhere in stores Android Pay is accepted and receive 1 GB of free data.  On your third tap, we'll throw in another free gig.

The offer is available for subscribers through June 14, 2016, and rewards will have to be redeemed by July 13. Additionally, the offer is only open to postpaid customers on either The Verizon Plan or older More Everything plans.

  • pfff...2gb **** you verizon
  • Something for free and yet you still complain.
  • yup, i did...what of it?
  • Barely, it's only for 2 months. They just want people to get used to it so they either go over the third month, or they bump up their data afterwards.

  • How do promotions work? Posted via the Android Central App
  • It's not free, just more ways for them to track your daily routine, I don't need this extra 2GB a month, since my Verizon unlimited data plan takes care of that. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Did you really say free? It isn't free. You are paying for the 2gb. How, by using Android Pay and buying something. There you go. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I believe their aim is to get something you would normally purchase routinely and instead of using your card use your phone. Not go out and buy something when you normally wouldn't. So from a price perspective if you buy something your out of and would normally get anyways then it IS FREE
  • I hope you don't tell them that and still use them Posted via the Android Central App
  • i wouldn't even walk past a verizon store without getting an std check afterward, let alone subject my phone to that plague
  • Not worth it if only available for 2 billing cycles.
If it was every month for life I'd be all over this
  • read the post dude
  • What did he read wrong, it's for a total of 2 months Posted via the Android Central App
  • he edited his post. he originally asked if it was for life
  • This should have been 2gb every month for at least 6 months.....stingy verizon. i clicked the link, and it failed to impress me.
  • I am sure they will be upset now, knowing they failed to impress you.
  • How's Boost Mobile treating you? Posted via the Android Central App
  • Or they could just not have this promotion. Stingy! Posted via the Android Central App on the Moto X Pure Edition
  • Lame, I say that because I still have unlimited data. Emoji not supported..WTF AC Data_theNew_Greed
  • No thanks. I'll stick with Samsung Pay
  • I love Samsung Pay! But I will use Android Pay a few times if it means free data.... #shameless
  • Yep Posted via the Android Central App
  • PlUs Samsung pay has a promotion from 4/15 to 5/10 that is you use it 3 times you get a $30 gift card. :) Posted via the Android Central App
  • All you need to do is use it three times. Not much effort. Posted via the Android Central App on the Moto X Pure Edition
  • U probably go thru the 2gigs using Samsung pay Posted via the Android Central App
  • Considering its the best pay solution for phones I would be ok with that. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Odd Posted via the Android Central App
  • Are you that stupid? Posted via the Android Central App
  • Lol that sucks you have to use android pay to get 2GB of extra data. No wonder why people are switching to tmobile. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Too cheap on data!
    It's a trap!
  • How is the Verizon Wireline strike going? Posted via the Android Central App
  • But Samsung Pay is so much better.
  • Yes,yes it is Posted via the Android Central App
  • I used Android Pay twice today at Subway. Their terminal didn't care if I used Samsung or Android Pay, so what's the issue? I was going to use Android Pay anyway. I'll always take freebies for what I was going to do anyway. Posted via the Android Central App
  • The issue would be that a whole lot of terminals do care, that's where the MST technology comes in.I'm sure you actually know this already. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I use Samsung pay pretty much anywhere, everywhere.I'll open Samsung pay, toggle Android pay at a workable location, make a purchase, then toggle back to Samsung pay.If I decide it's worth the 60 seconds total to carry the aforementioned out at time of purchase. Posted via the Android Central App
  • To bad my banks not supported Posted via the Android Central App
  • Exactly, neither of my banks is supported. So what's the point? Posted via the Android Central App
  • Wait patiently or apply for one of the major good credit card out there
  • If it were samsung pay I would've already claimed this. Deleted android pay cause it works hardly anywhere... S7 edge will make America great again!
  • No vending machines around you? No McDonald's anywhere? Posted via the Android Central App on the Moto X Pure Edition
  • Yes but I never eat that garbage. S7 edge will make America great again!
  • Just order a bottle of water. :/ Posted via the Android Central App on the Moto X Pure Edition
  • Their bottled water is fattening also....
  • Lol Posted via the Android Central App
  • Samsung gave me a $30 gift card for making a single purchase at vending machine (a 55¢ soda). This promo is a joke! Posted via Samsung's beast S7
  • Android pay gave me a chromecast but Samsung pay also gave me a level u wireless headphones. This is not Android pay's better promotions. Posted via Galaxy S7 edge
  • Love it
  • If it were 2gb for a year as long as you use android pay once in a month then it would be worth it. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I use Samsung Pay on a regular basis. I got free BT headphones for bait. My wife got a charging pad. So far Android Pay doesn't work with my bank, so, so far it's a non-starter. Add Chase to the lineup and I will give it a shot. A bit of "free" data is kinda cheesey but why not take it?
  • Good deal for anyone on those plans. I bought a bottle of water from a vending machine at work 10 times and got a new Chromecast. Posted via the Android Central App on the Moto X Pure Edition
  • I'm not with vzw but neither Android pay or samsung pay supports the cards i have. These promos are kind of unfair if you ask me. It's not my fault that capital one or insight financial CU doesn't support or isn't supported by them. And I'm not going to open new accounts just to get it either.
  • I use Samsung pay pretty often. I'll switch to Android pay for a few transactions if it nets me a couple of GB of data. People always complaining about Verizon. Geez, don't you guys get tired of ******** about the same thing over and over again? I find it very childish.
  • Then don't pay attention to it. No one cares what you think
  • I have unlmited data with Verizon....So, what do I get when I use Android Pay (I have been for weeks now) ?
  • You get nothing, this is not for grandfathered unlimited data plan users. Posted via the Android Central App
  • Two gigs of free data when you go over unlimited Posted via the Android Central App
  • Would my Nexus 5X qualify as a Verizon phone?
  • I use the Nexus 6 and Nexus 5X on Verizon, don't know if it qualifies as a Verizon phone, both of mine are Google phones, Verizon does sell the Nexus 6 with their branding on it, which I believe is considered a Verizon phone "according to Verizon", if needs to have that tramp stamp and bloat ware to qualify I guess. Posted via the Android Central App
  • I can confirm I got the offer on my 5X Posted via the Android Central App
  • The offer popped up on my unlocked third gen Moto X Pure Edition while on Verizon.
  • People forever ******** about stuff! So using Android Pay to buy something you most likely was gonna buy anyway but a different method is an evil plot from the carrier huh? Most people don't have unlimited data... Even if it's only for 2 bill cycles it's more than you had already! The levels of stupidity on the internet never seems to amaze me, lol! I might just pop my Verizon SIM in my Nexus 5x just to see if I can get the free data, lol!
  • Tryin to see how this works I'm new to this just got my first Verizon wireless
